It's copyrighted. I see nothing on the artist's website that says that their works are creative commons or public domain. Just because something is a meme doesn't make it not copyrighted; Nintendo had to take a game off of its shop service for using the Trollface image in it, which is, in fact, copyrighted.

it makes no sense why you would use it anyway, since you could just draw an image yourself, since the meme looked like it didn't take any effort to make because the magic was all in the memetic properties.

One big question: If the images are the only thing that need to exist for them to spread, why are they in the file? Are they reproductions, or what?

You tagged the article yourself, which going by the tag guide, you're not supposed to do. I recommend undoing that so that the technical team can take care of it.

To be fair, you are allowed to tag your articles, it's just that it's usually better to let the staff do all of the tagging. Even if the tags are accurate, if you missed any, nobody will know since the article isn't listed as untagged.

I really love this; the whole idea of an attempt at looking cool gone wrong chilled me to the bone, especially when it said subjects keep laughing even after dying.

My favorite part of this is that it doesn't outright mention GAW; maybe the "chatroom" isn't even GAW but another group altogether
it doesn't really matter since the creator of these memes is unaffiliated with them either way
