Oh yeah, he's a fun character to write. Take Benedict Wong, add a childish love for kaiju, and you have a ton of possibilities to go with XD
Write faster (jk, take your time). I can't imagine how amazing the conclusion will be.
There's also an inconsistency between you calling Matthew Liu primarily Liu in the first part and primarily Matthew in the second (with Liu's mixed in there). It is just the slightest bit disconcerting to me. I also just noticed that in the first part, Matthew is titled a researcher, but in the second, he's titled an agent. Just some weird stuff that doesn't detract from the actual story, but messes with the experience.
About the characters, I like the way that most everyone is evolving, but I feel like Watkins didn't recieve the same fleshing out that everyone else did. She's the more questioning, more scared side of the Aquagenists, which was pretty well established by the first part. Nakamura grew from nervous and scared to excitably confident about research and doing his job. Even Morgan and Liu got a bit more personality; Liu became more than just the annoyed Foundation worker; Morgan became more than the commanding voice on Liu's comm. Maybe that's supposed to be the extent of her personality. I don't know.

Oh, Watkins will get more development; I have a skeleton of a plot laid out, but this thing is largely gonna be improv; started out crazy, and it's gonna continue that way. XD
Right now it's looking like she's gonna go from being scared and confused to more like Matthew, in the sense of "Why do I put up with this shit". Except with the eccentric Aquagene persona that comes with her job.
I'll try to keep names more consistent if it's confusing for peeps. I just didn't want it to be "Matthew said, Matthew said, Matthew said" over and over. :3

Gotta feel for Pearl, but Nakamura's growing on me. I mean, I just have to love a guy whose reaction to "It's 15 meters tall" is excitement.
