We don't see enough of the Factory anymore. Let's change that!
Thanks to everyone who read this in chat and forums.
Between the neurons of a brain messages flit in electrochemical signals. In the vast mind of the machine, thoughts pass as interoffice memos.
I have to say, what really sells me on this format is how upbeat the narrator is despite the absolute horror of the situation they are describing. I can get behind that as a staple of these Factory formats.
+1. Job well done.
During Daniel's interview, SCP Foundation Employee Susan Weiss-Hardoff let her nerves get the better of her and attempted to remove herself from the interview process through the use of a firearm. However, since she was already so far in the hiring process, The Factory kept the wound from negatively impacting her interview.
I love this.
The format's utilitarian style fits the article's tone, it's exceptionally well-paced, and the way you portray the Factory's internal sensibilities - drawing off some of that lovely corporatist 'humans as resources' sentiment - is both novel (at least in this context) and well-executed. SPaG errors are kept to a merciful minimum. The interactions with the Elder Foreman and the document's overall narrative method are equal parts charming and disquieting, and while the volume of the piece is rather sparse, you milk the individual elements for all they are worth.
Really superb work.
While they were not initially interested, after a short tour of the facility, and contact with an elder foreman in charge of recruitment, they changed their minds.
Still the most terrifying line in the whole memo.
Glad to see this up, +1.
Glad you liked it. I wanted to write something where the entire story of it was summarized before the story actually starts. It's a sort of "And this is how I got here" trope that shows up here and there, but people don't realize it until after they've finished reading.
I can definitely get behind this as a factory-format, well done! I'll have to get started on one of these myself.
When you work hard, you too can get compliments like this.
Aaaaaand upvoted.
still not as scary as working retail
Holy fuck.
Ngl I wanna see a transcript of one of these "interviews."
It would probably just be screaming and eldritch retching.
I disagree. I think it'd be chipper interview questions and screaming.
I don't think the foreman needs power tools to elicit screaming.
No, but it's important to prepare new employees for their positions as quickly as possible.
+1
Corporate utilitarianism and perturbing subject matter (being forced to do something while still having free will) at their finest. Though, given how I've been writing some stuff regarding reanimation recently, this line hit me harder then it should have.
Security Officer Emilio Delgado Ruiz has signed a 4002 year contract and will be working permanently as a security officer…
I feel that would be accompanied by the following in the interview.
If you are in anyway rendered unable to fulfill your contract at any point a designated representative will be sent in order to provide enough assistance until you are able to fulfill your contract.

This. I want this. It fits perfectly. It would make it even better than it already is, and would drive home the theme so much more.
