This is a thread for suggesting or requesting tags. For character, organizational, or other in-universe tags the standard is five pages by three authors. For attribute tag suggestions, at least ten articles are needed.

If requesting a tag, please list and link all applicable pages and give a description of the potential tag. Further questions can be directed to myself or a member of the technical team.

I guess I'll be the first to give this a go. I'd like to request a tag for the IJAMEA (Imperial Japanese Anomalous Matters Examination Agency), a now defunct organization that served as a Foundation analogue in imperial japan until it's dissolution in 1945.

The IJAMEA is currently featured in five pages by four authors, as follows:
SCP-2937, by Mazyrian
SCP-2478 and SCP-2953, both by MrWrong
SCP-2863, by me (Dr Solo)
Gelobt sei, by A Vacuum

The tag would be used to organize all pages that feature the IJAMEA as a major component, just like tags for other groups and organizations.

While I am not Solo, I would suppose that a suitable proposed tag would be 'ijamea' (to make things simple).

As for a specific definition, I suppose 'An article which features the group called Imperial Japanese Anomalous Matters Examination Agency' would suffice.

I'd imagine that just "ijamea" would make the most sense for the tag itself. It would be used to denote when an article is "of or related to the Imperial Japanese Anomalous Matters Examination Agency organization" (language taken from the "Other Tags" tab here).

I am of the opinion that a full-fledged GoI must have the popular support from the readership in general. It is my personal opinion that I am frankly not certain if IJAMEA would have that level of support.

We have, like, four. Obskurakorps, Ahnenerbe SS (likely interchangeable w/ OBSKURA), Thule Society (probably just hinted at) and tons of generic references to "WWII German government".

Well, as I understand it, the Obskurakorps are a subsection of the Ahnerbe, a la the GOC and the United Nations, while the Thule Society and the Nazis proper were - things that existed. OBSKURA tends to be the most prominent simply because it's the most identifiable, unique, and cumulative of the four.

As for the SS becoming a GOI as a point of fact, we've already got a group bent on global cosmic reconfiguration, some enormously amoral venture capitalists, and a Church bent on resurrecting a/some mechanical apocalypse gods. The wiki is no stranger to things which are eldritch, nonsensical, and/or generally horrible. Besides which, I'm pretty sure we tend towards OBSKURA being decidedly not strictly in line with Party doctrine, more along the lines of the Chaos Insurgency's 'mankind must ascend to the one true form' shtick - though, of course, they still find their origins in the depths of National Socialism.

All of this, however, is somewhat moot at this point seeing as how I was a tit and jumped the gun as per usual. I think this'd be a more relevant conversation to engage in if and when we see der Fuhrer rise to his fifth article.

The fact that 914 is referred to as "The Clockwork Machine" but shouldn't be on the list given its characteristics, could be seen as confusing.

Clockwork is different from clock. Going by definition, the clock is a device to measure and record time. Clockwork is merely a mechanism, and is distinct from clock fundamentally.

I don't think there would be much confusion to those who know the connotations behind the two terms.

On that note, would the hypothetical 'clock' tag include stuff like sundials, water clocks or anything that measures time?

If I may I'd like to suggest that instead of "dotc" we just make it "doctors-of-the-church". I know it's longer but DOTC seems too vague.

I'd like to suggest the creation of a paleontological tag. We have quite a few scips dealing with dinosaurs, and other extinct animals. See here: SCP-2082 SCP-1905 SCP-1265 SCP-477 SCP-563 and this tale http://www.scp-wiki.net/a-fancy-dinosaur

I would like to resurrect this suggestion, adding SCP-250, SCP-317, SCP-2113, SCP-2184, SCP-3435, and SCP-3637 to the aforementioned articles (I know tales don't get attribute tags.) That makes eleven, although perhaps the tag could be 'prehistoric-creature' or simply 'prehistoric', to clarify that the skip need not have been excavated through paleontology.

ETA for clarity,

prehistoric: SCP is or exhibits traits of a prehistoric, extinct animal (such as dinosaurs or mammoths).

Opening this up to a 'prehistoric' tag is cool, and most of the skips you suggested for it are relevant - I don't think 3435 qualifies, though, as it only *depicts* a dino. That still leaves 10 relevant skips between you and Dr Leonard, though, so I'm down to approve on the grounds that the anomalies have to actually *be* prehistoric. There's some debate to be had about the line to be drawn here - do ancient Eldritch beings count because they're super old? How do things change if time-travel shenanigans get involved? I think it should generally be somewhat self-evident, but it'd be a good idea to figure out boundaries for weird cases.

Yeah I was iffy about 3435, so I had a list of 11 just in case.

do ancient Eldritch beings count because they're super old?

I figure the tag should relate to things that are either real extinct things that actually existed at some point, or else something that's similar to and recognizable as those. So, the eldritch being would only count if it was like, the god of trilobites or something, and was recognizably similar to them.

How do things change if time-travel shenanigans get involved?

Well 317 and 1265 are on the list; I figure they qualify by virtue of being IRL prehistoric, even though 1265 has persisted to the present and 317 is from another side-timeline entirely.

The Kiryu Labs series focuses on slice-of-life stories involving the director of the labs, Dr. Mark Kiryu, his right hand man Researcher Riven Mercer, and occasionally the labs' assigned field contact, Agent Tai Yang Shen. Tales here primarily deal with day-to-day happenings in the lives of Foundation researchers, including both examination of unlisted anomalous objects processed by the labs and some more personal moments for staff who are, in the end, regular humans.

You can figure out if a tag exists yourself by clicking a tag on a page and then replacing the word in the url with the tag you're unsure of. If there are no pages with that tag, it's not a tag in use.

I think for the purposes of consistency, moon is suitable. And answering the second part of the proposal, would only pertain to our moon. All others would probable land on the extraterrestrial tag.

Definition: Relating to the bigfoot/children of the night, as outlined in SCP-1000. This tag would serve a similar role to the deavite tag.

^ Doesn't really cover the whole concept; SCP-1000 is implied to be all the "wild man" cryptids and myths around the world- sasquatch, yeti, yowie, yeren, menk, leshiye, maricoxi, agogwe, basajaunak… That last one is particularly interesting because they double as a Prometheus myth- they supposedly taught humans the secrets of raising crops and livestock, and how to work metal. Sounds familiar…

In my opinion, the cameo had little to no bearing on the plot of the tale, so I feel it would be redundant to tag it.
