"extreme hatred of women"

For a site like this, that seems vague and distracting. Given that there are lots of female personnel, and the rather bland use of the term "extreme hatred", wouldn't this cause some problems worth mentioning? Otherwise, it seems like a total red herring, given it has no influence on the report at all.

I agree that the, "extreme," portion would likely lead to problems in the workplace. Then again, "extreme," is a relative term. Maybe the subject is able to keep his hatred from interfering with his work, but they wanted to note it for reasons of psychological study. It's possible that things like hating women could have an effect within 087.
I guess since none of that was expressly stated in the notes, and it's just conjecture on my part, it doesn't really help. Some sort of explanation as to why his extreme hatred of women is noteworthy in reference to 087 would be useful.

This seems awfully nitpicky to me. "Extreme hatred of women" adds nuance and tells us what sort of person was sent in to explore. It's not worth editing out just because it turned out to be irrelevant.

D-9035 is a black guy. "You wan' me to go down there, Doc?" See? He's a black guy cause he uses slang and calls the doctor 'Doc.' That makes him a black guy. And he's a big strong black guy. Who hates women. And doesn't appear to be particularly intelligent.

You should really look up the "black brute" stereotype, because it is exactly what you have described. Not only is this a stereotype and caricature, it's a racist stereotype and caricature. I have no doubt this was not your intention, and that most likely you wanted a shorthand of conveying to the reader that this is a big tough guy to make his mental break carry more weight, but his description and behavior display an immaturity in characterization.

This is problematic not just because of the negative stereotype it reinforces. Aside from the unpleasant subtext, there's no subtlety. You could have said, "Literally fucking Superman went down the stairs and got scared." It's a shorthand to play on media stereotypes we've all been exposed to rather than do the hard work of finding a character who can speak for himself.

Well honestly I never even considered he was black. I say "Doc" sometimes and I'm white as a ghost.

I think you might be looking into it a bit, in my opinion.

You should really look up the "black brute" stereotype, because it is exactly what you have described. Not only is this a stereotype and caricature, it's a racist stereotype and caricature.

Remember how this guy is D-class? That means he was probably a death-row inmate who has committed heinous crimes. It seems pretty understandable to me for him to be a brute, the fact that he's black is irrelevant. My guess says that, had he been made a white guy instead, he'd probably had been portrayed in the exact same manner.

Just putting in my two cents, for whatever it's worth.

Necro-ing because I really agree with Bilge here, this is a solid stereotype, and while, yes, it's not impossible to imagine a character like this being a D-Class, that's sort of the problem in the first place.

This should really be looked at, connection to a heritage SCP or not.

Necro-posting but I just want to add that a large amount of D-Class talk like this in other articles. They're criminals, thugs. They use slang. It's not because he's black.

I really liked this one, fit perfectly with the SCP. I did find it odd that he was stocked with 75 LEDs, but managed to place them on 89 flights. Since this is either a mistake or of significant interest, I think this should be clarified.

I am honestly nitpicking here though, this is a nice addition.

Better, but still needs work

I realize a lot of people have a strong connection to these exploration logs but man are they oddly specific.

I still recoil at the fact that they know the crying appears to be 200 meters down but man it's still an ungodly distance. More than half an empire state building is a crazy distance to hear crying and sobbing unless she's howling like a banshee.

He does make it seem more believable to go 150-200 but it's still oddly specific. The dialogue is better, less profanity and a more believable interaction, like the entering of the catatonic state.

Agreed that the D-class portrayal represents, at very best, some extremely ill-advised indulgence in stereotype. If it wasn't meant to set off alarm bells, well, all the more reason to downvote it for making a serious conceptual and execution error.
