Oh look, another magic mirror.

I could tell from the bit at the end that there was meant to be the implication of this being more than just a mirror of fucks you uppery, but I couldn't really figure it out. The [DATA EXPUNGED] at the end was clumsily done, and the implication just didn't work.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is that this could be good, but isn't. As it stands, it's too similar to SCPs we've had in the past, and really just doesn't stand out.

Yoric hit it on the head. This could be really cool, but it's not yet. The bit at the bottom needs work, so that it implies more.

I've made the eventual purpose of the alterations much clearer (hopefully), and rewritten the final section completely. Hopefully I haven't gone too far the other way.

I don't know that there's such a thing as too weird in this context, but that was not what I was expecting.

There are some similarities, although the eventual result is quite different (I can make that clearer by 'un-expunging'/explaining a bit more if you feel that would help).

No, the "vaguely humanoid [REDACTED]" gives just enough of a description for the mind to build an image, but plenty more for he imagination to fill in.

Unless you have some sort of crazy development planned for these extraterrestrials, I'd keep it as is.

I wish you didn't come right out and go "it's a place for an entity to live", that can be gleaned from context and the final addendum. It's still pretty creepy and original, though. Surprised it hasn't gotten more attention.

While I do like it, I honestly feel like "safe" isn't a good rating for this SCP. I'd probably place it solidly at "Euclid," considering its more dangerous properties. I guess it would depend on the percent of people it causes to have the desire to pick it up, but seeing that the rate is blocked out, I'm not sure.
I'm upvoting, though, because I'm a sucker for body horror, and I appreciate the suspense of "preparing" for something.

Class isn't solely a measure of danger (an ordinary nuke would be Safe class). You can leave this thing alone inside a cardboard box forever and nothing bad will happen until you open the box and look at it. Hence, Safe.

A nice interesting SCP. Although some areas felt clunky (e.g. "outside force that 'anchors' to mirrors", with little to suggest that in the rest of the document), the SCP was interesting, and enjoyable enough for a +1.

I might be a little nitpicky, but if it's an outside force which anchors to mirrors, why hasn't it anchored to another mirror yet? Is it because it can't or because it doesn't want / need to? Also, could it anchor to any reflective surface or just to items which are typically considered as a mirror?

I know the foundation is probably currently investigating those questions, but I think the foundation would forbid to bring any highly reflective item into contact with the scip, until this theory is proven wrong.

But overall I really enjoyed it. Especially the way you slowly realise it's "purpose". +1

Autopsies on advanced-stage subjects have shown that the 'cavity' could theoretically support a separate life form. This led researchers to speculate that the alterations caused by SCP-412 intend to turn the human body into an 'environment suit' for a life-form unaccustomed to Earth's atmosphere.

That last sentence is an WTF-wringer if I've ever seen one. +1

I disagree; the sentence you've quoted tells instead of showing, thus spoiling what otherwise would've been a more gut-wrenching ending.
