Huh… I like the idea, but you should try to amp up the creepy- like, it's almost underplayed here (some would argue this is the point, some are wrong, keep reading). Maybe, quotes of affected behavior, or, how the affected people start doing even weirder and creepier things… Hints at some sort of related entity or sentience of the fungus could be fun too… Look, go to town with it (within limits).
Kinda underplayed, but I'm still pretty freaked out by the idea that weird stuff is growing on me and I don't know it.
(since I'm reading through all the contagion tags)
… this could be a lot creepier, especially because the pictures are pretty good. But there's a high bar set for mind-control fungus in fiction, and all I really thought after reading was "Mushishi did this so much better". I mean, the wrong dose of meds can make you aggressive. That's a very familiar human concept.
The idea of a living thing using you as limbs or eyes or warmth or nutrient source is a lot creepier, and deserves to be explored further.
I like it just as it is. The idea that there's something that could be growing in your house or on you without you even noticing it or being able to see it is pretty freaky. This one actually makes me want to go taking pictures of everything just to make sure.
I like this one. It shows the lengths that the Foundation will go to contain the SCPs.
I mean sure, 110-Montauk is horrible, but it's still centralized. In this instance, they wiped out an ENTIRE TOWN.
Also, the redacted comment that the infected woman said really upped the creep factor for me. What could she have said that would require the brass to remove it? That adds a whole new layer to the horror.
