See I was wondering how this managed to hit +10 in the ten minutes before I got to it, but then I read it and I can definitely see why. It's cool to see a modern implementation of a mythological figure that shows it adapting to its present circumstances, especially one that works so well with such a dumb punny title.
… and admittedly, I have a weakness for anything that talks about advice animals, especially Foundation-sponsored advice animals.

I was as shocked as you are, honestly! I've always loved the figure of Coyote, and I love modern mythology, and I loved the aesthetic of this strange dog-man prowling these dusty little towns, trying to use the religions that have replaced him to get through to these terrified people.
And I love the use of narrative and creation as a containment method for skips (as seen in 2916) and I really wanted to think outside the box here. I'm glad you liked it!
A common street art design depicting a coyote wearing a leather jacket and sunglasses, using a pipe as a crucifix.
I'm having trouble visualising this. I'm not sure how one "uses" a crucifix, other than for crucifying people or warding off vampires, and I'm not sure how a pipe could be used in a way that makes it obvious from a still image that it is being used in place of a crucifix (other than perhaps crucifying someone on it). Clarification please?

My only issue is how veil-shatteringly big this seems. Towns are being routinely hijacked by something blatantly anomalous, and the SCProcedures are a bit underwhelming (even considering the awesome grassroots-protocol). I have no idea how Secrecy comes into play here. This might be alleviated if it were explicitly set in a broken-veil scenario, ala Jekeled's recent thirst-doggos…in fact, I now headcannon these as related… 0-0

That's so funny that you think they're related - Jekeled was actually looking over an early draft of this, and that's where he came up with the idea, after he suggested that maybe instead of just stealing water, the water turns into dogs. I passed on the idea because it was a little too cutesy-surreal for the "desert church Old Wild West fuckery" aesthetic I was going for, but he ended up making 2947 while I made this.
Also, I did mean to add something about amnestics in there. Not sure how that got past the multiple reviewers…

I only vaguely recall this when I saw it as a draft, but I do remember that there was not an interview or an excerpt from one of Coyote's speeches, which to me is what really adds the flavor of this article and places it firmly in upvote land.
Between this article, and SCP-1160, it seems the Foundation has quite a few anomalies that are better contained the more people know about them, which is a rather refreshing reprieve from the usual Super Secret (tm) approach the Foundation usually applies.

Absolutely wonderful. And, at least with what I know from my boyfriend, the aspect of the return to prominence is accurate to a lot of Native myth as well.

There's a novel in the 'Company' series, by Kage Baker, titled "Sky Coyote" (might be Uncle Sky Coyote), that explores the mythology rather nicely.
Also a novel by Christopher Moore, "Coyote Blues", that explores it a bit more nastily.
Trickster Coyote is an inspiring entity, with or without his penis.
