This takes place directly after the events of Ball Gags and Scrambled Eggs.
Haven't read it yet, just commenting to express how psyched I am that Resurrection has a new entry!
Edit: I like where this is going with Old Site 19, curious to see what the heck is down there. I really did miss Strelnikov, and I hope that Hind gets some use at some point. Also good to see that Clef is wise to Merle's existence.
More set-up, more Foxx, more Foxx's daughter, and some helicopter description-porn, courtesy of Strelnikov. Oh, and it ends with Adams and Clef for no discernible narrative reason. I'm not big on any of these aspects of the story, but there were elements that I rather liked (the technical whatsitry of anti-AI encryption and the fact that Site 19 was built as a cap on Site 19), and I appreciate that the story is moving along in a hopefully interesting direction. No vote.
/me rereads
Ignoring Lucille's singing in the next room, Bridge looked into Foxx's eyes. Eyes that had seen men die badly. Eyes that had seen more evil than Bridge cared to even be aware of.
Aaaaaand I cannot take this seriously anymore. Vote reversed.
There are problems with this. The Frozen references are a little overdone, the tone is all over the place, and some of it could be written much better. However, It's also an engaging series with mostly-likeable characters, a developing plot, and I thoroughly look forward to the next installment. It nets out at a solid upvote from me.
Dee eventually piped up. "Are you drunk?"
Strel casually smiled, showing off his stainless steel replacement teeth. "I'm Russian."
I swear I predicted the second phrase. As a Russian person, it was a lot of fun for me to read this part.
Also the word
Nyet
was was gorgeous and hilarious.
And in general, the story is good. There is not a lot of unnecessary and heavy distractions. Everything is very neat, logical and eye-catching. For me, it was a pleasure to read.
+1
P.S. Надеюсь, Дмитрий Аркадьевич будет вести себя цивильно)))
