Thanks to MrAnakinSpecter and Doc Expletive for looking at this, and double thanks to Randomini for critiquing and giving me permission to use Overgang Dood, albeit obliquely. removed in update

UPDATE: Significant changes have been made in response to feedback.
*Addendum 2 has been removed, along with the related containment update
*The item now has several stages of anomalous effects.
*Added new containment procedures to reflect the new effects.
*Acidverse references have been removed, as it no longer feels like something Overgang would do.
*More clearly states that this is related to Are We Cool Yet?.

Thank you all for helping me make this as good as it can be.

I really like it, but I'm confused about this part of the containment procedures:

Foundation web crawlers have been updated with keywords related to SCP-2388 in an effort to find and contain additional instances of SCP-2388 online.

They only have a note to small forum post to go off of; so, how can they have a means of tracking instances of Capitalization?

The file is consistently named CRUISE.EXE, so they can track that. Other than that, they're not so much tracking things based on that particular post as watching tech sites for questions about people's computers accidentally capitalizing things.

Mildly amusing. I would have preferred it to end after the description. For me, this is one of those cases where adding backstory is a detriment to the work.

Bickering, snide anartists are boring as all hell to me.

Stylistically well-written, but I've seen this kind of concept a lot (including the log at the end) and I didn't find this version particularly entertaining.

I do enjoy the central joke, but not enough to make me like it overall.

Hmm. I added the log in later because people were telling me that it needed something more. Would it be any better if I dropped the second addendum completely, or does it need a different kind of thing to make it shine?

I would have very much preferred a version of this where the anomaly itself is interesting enough to stand on its own. I don't care about these dbags, I care about weird magic capslock stuff. Surely there are all-caps analogues of things other than speech and typing?

I like it, overall. The idea of it making folks yell so loud they damage their own hearing while protecting their throats struck me as slightly beyond the fundamentally mundane humor of the piece. I think it would be more effective for folks to be rendered almost unable to speak for fear of blowing their own voice, which would add a narrative knife-twist towards the all-caps speaking villains on the Internet.

Overall I enjoyed the article and gave it a +1. But I could have done without the last two lines of the chat log, they felt a little over the top to me.

Personally I would like this better if it was directly tied to AWCY?¹ but I think I'm in the minority of people on the site who actually like AWCY?.

It's not that people dislike AWCY itself. Many of them just believe that it is rather overused or a cop out of a better story. An anomalous item appears, there's a note attached to it, signed by Wondertainment or AWCY or someone else, giving reasons for its creation or something like that.

Also, since AWCY is one out of many anartist groups and is simply one of the more outspoken and violent ones, some people want to see other anartist groups and what they have to offer.

It's sort of tied to AWCY?, but more specifically, it's tied to Randomini's version of AWCY? from The Cool War series.

Explanation/spoilers

*Overgang Dood, anartist computer programmer, in the signature and the username Wheres-my-car
*Rita Summers, another Cool War character, best known for her trained invisible spiders
*Nibman, an anartist of unspecified talent who is mentioned as a possible recruit to AWCY? at the end of The Cool War. Here, I'm assuming that he did get recruited, and took on the title of The Composer.

The intention here was that, while he doesn't like AWCY?, Overgang wouldn't want to make something that seriously injured anyone. He just wants to make their lives really annoying. Also (and this is almost certainly me trying too hard), 2929 is how you'd type out AWCY on an old flipphone.

E: Most of this is irrelevant now that I've updated it.
