Question about Staff processes.

Question about Staff processes.

Shapey 28 Sep 2026 11:39

I've wanted to apply to be wiki staff. However, I've noticed every team requires a discord account. Do all teams actually require it? Or was there one that I missed? (I have issues with discord)

P.S Sorry if I wasn't supposed to ask that here…

Moved to Policy since this isn't a query about part of the writing process.

Do all teams actually require it?

I believe so, yes. Most, if not all, day-to-day staff work is done on a Team/Staff Discord. The only staff (or staff-adjacent) team that does not strictly require Discord is the IRC Moderation Team.

Thats sad for me.
They require or best recommended? (Sorry for re-asking)

Sorry if im not allowed to do this, as Im probably bumping this thread, which (as far as I know) Isn't the best thing to do.
After reviewing the previous staff application threads, I couldnt find any mentions of them requiring a Discord account. Is it new? Or was it a thing previously and I just didn't notice?

Hi, Captain of External Recruitment subteam here:

1. Having a Discord account is fundamental for Staff work and coordination, therefore it's mandatory for applying to a Team;

2. While it wasn't specified in those thread before the creation of Promotions Team and the new threads, having a Discord account has always been necessary for Staff work.

Sorry if im extending a useless argument, but for the coordination part, isnt it possible to use private forums or PMS?

isnt it possible to use private forums

Can you provide examples of private forums offerings that have the same utility as Discord, including an app version, file uploads/sharing, ability to use bots for chat maintenance, assignment of multiple simultaneous roles, and so on?

or PMS?

Definitely not, given the number of staff that need to coordinate with each other.
