What is this?
This system is designed to give users a choice in where and if their works on posted on the Wiki's official social media accounts. Currently, users have no control on where/if their works are posted on the Wiki's socials. This means that a user could end up in a situation where their work is posted on a platform they don't want it on. To prevent this, and to give users more choice in where/how their works are posted, this system has been put in place.
How does this work?
Users can contact a member of IO and request:
- That their works are not posted on the Wiki's social media pages.
- That their works are not posted on specific platforms.
- That the comments are turned off on posts featuring their works.
- Some combination of 2 and 3
Members who can be contacted are:
Sinking_Otter- Wikidot PMs or Discord (sinking_otter)
pr0m37h3um - Discord only (pr0m37h3um)
Once a user has reached out to a member of IO and made their request, that member must add them to the database. From then on, it's the responsibility of every IO members to double check the database before posting to ensure no works go out, or comment sections are left on, that shouldn't be.
Areas of Note
Contests
Because this system is voluntary, it will not influence how we run promos beyond making sure we comply with what users have requested.
Mixed Requests
Users can make mixed requests (for example turning off comments on one platform, and not having their works posted on other platforms).
Works with multiple contributors.
If a work has multiple contributors and one of those contributors has requested their works not be posted in some fashion or comments be turned off, then the default will be to follow whatever that user has requested. In cases that are more complex (multiple users in the database) Internet Outreach will hold a discussion with all contributors before coming to a decision.
Retroactive
Due to the sheer number of posts across the Wiki's social media accounts, this will not be retroactive. It will only take into account posting moving forward.
Templates
Here are a few templates for you to request your work(s) are not to be posted, or the comments section on your works be turned off. You can edit the templates as much as you'd like.
