As we begin to roll out the first big, focused review of the site, I think it is fair to include the community at large in this process. While the review team is making the final decisions, your feedback and opinions can be helpful in this process.

This space will be a place to post the most recent block being worked on, and any discussions that may be taking place during the review.

The 0-99 block is, generally speaking, the realm of the classics. A huge chunk of the entries here are from the old site, and the "founding fathers" of the SCP at large. Still, old does not, in any way, mean good, and the review has turned up entries that need some dusting off and review.

As I read these over, I'm stunned at some of the voting and comments on some of them, or the lack thereof. Get out and vote, comment, make your voice heard, even if it is just a gushy "omg so creepy!" fangirl-ish comment.

Also, I'd like to suggest a idea to people: Un-Nerf your entries. Many of the entries in the 0-99 block are very weird and unsettling…however, it seems some of them have acquired those oh-so-funny "cut it out guys! seriously, what the hell?" comments. I've also noticed these comments on newer entries as well. These have a place, however you must remember that, when you add them, you are giving people a "way out" from any kind of creepy atmosphere you were creating.

Some entries don't really need them, and with other entries, these comments serve to make them awesome. I'm not calling for all of them to be torn off, just try looking at your new entries both with and without the humor comment, and see which works better.

Fangirlish comment? XD!!! I would think if someone said "omg, creepy," it would be a compliment. The creepy aspect of some of the SCPs… Why would anyone want to take away the creepiness? If the idea of the foundation is to find objects that are paranormal and/or can't be explained to save humanity, a lot of them are most likely to be creepy.
Oh, yayers!!! I have one question though. I am guessing that a lot of people will start to post their input in this thread, but what if Someone found away to make an SCP better? Where would they go to propose their ideas? I don't want to clutter up this thread with random "Oh Hey, I found a possible way to salvage this SCP!!!"
cos I tend to get carried away…. and I suck at writing, so I can't edit. Plus if I were good at writing, I would still feel bad about editing the words of someone elses vision. So where could I go to write my suggestions and still be heard? The SCP's own discussion board? Will any people reviewing the SCPs look at that?

Also, if an SCP has potential, but has to be removed because for whatever reason, will there be any place that you guys will store them, instead of having people rush to fix it immediately, resulting in a bigger mess,? If you stored them in another place, people could browse through whenever and improve The SCPs at there own pace? Then, if the higher ups find it worthy, it can go back on the list?

I have more questions, but I just got smacked with a large dose of the sleepies….

My thought concerning the first ten:

SCP-009: We have had MANY weapons added to the list. This is a weapon, but instead of the "fight good" or "violates basic physics" memes, it uses the "makes you crazy" one (and I bet other SCPs have that combination too). The only really original aspect to it is the military background. I'm not sure how much improvement can be done without a wall-to-wall rewrite. Maybe people of military background believe themselves, or are possessed by the spirit of great generals and leaders past?

SCP-012: I actually like this one, or at least find the basic concepts very interesting. Removing the generic "insanity" bit might be interesting: people do not exhibit any other symptom aside from the overwhelming need to use their own blood to attempt to finish the piece, and remain totally coherent while doing so? I think that would be MUCH more creepier with a well-written security log. It also needs more blacking out. The major problem is that I'm fairly sure we a very similar SCP that is MUCH creepier and relates to performing the piece.

SCP-019: Take out the X-man factors (strength, electricity) and you get a poor mentally regressed soul with a semi transparent body that emits high radiation. Looks like an okay human SCP to me.

SCP-020: I'm completely neutral to it, inching on the "not harmful to the overall quality, weird enough". Could use enlargement, but I would not advocate a major "spicing up" by adding abilities, nor would I suggest deletion. I think AT LEAST some explanation for the "no touching" rule ought to be added, though.

SCP-023: Off to a good starts but peters out miserably: too fragmentary to be anything good without what amounts to a complete rewrite.

SCP-024: I loved SCP-024 the first time I read it (it's rated +12, so I can't be the only one!) and my opinion hasn't changed. I'm confused as to what is so wrong with it (beside the need to de-nerf a bit, I guess).

SCP-025: This is a prime example of "vagueness as a source of creepy", but verging on the limit of "badly done". Could use a sweep, but I do believe the basic concept is sound. Seems to be lacking a sentence fragment in Document #81-G, though, and the image makes no sens whatsoever.

SCP-026: I know people have it for SCPs that interact with others, but I still like the basic concepts of this one. I'd consider having him be mostly unconscious of his abilities, though (as is, he sounds just a bit too mary-sueish), and making addendum B MUCH vaguer.

SCP-029: The problem is here obviously te presence of two very similar SCPs, and this one has the stigma of the "makes fightin gud", but I do prefer its write up to 047's.

SCP-031: Again, not sure what is so problematic with this one. I just pointed out on the discussion page that gels and paste-like substances likely make excellent containment for this item, rendering it mostly safe. The opposition seems to center on the "origins" problem, but this assumes that the item is old. This is a fallacy. We DO NOT know where it came from or how old it is, ergo we cannot assume it to be ancient (in fact, we should assume it to be recent for the very arguments given on the talk page!). For all we know it appeared or acquired its properties during that boat travel.

SCP-036: Personally, I've always found this SCP extremely confusing. Not in a completely bad way, but confusing nonetheless. I'm really not sure what to think of it otherwise.

SCP-037: I thoroughly agree with Kain and Faust's comments: the idea is excellent, but needs better writing. Mild de-nerfing (because, let's face it, people WOULD do stuff like that) is also a good idea.

SCP-042: This is just a freakshow animal. The Fundation really shouldn't have to bother with it. Now if the Class-D were used for feeding TO the horse (think "mares of Diomedes"), that would tip it over. As is, it's just improper interference by OS personnel (with the daughter stuff). They are STRICTLY forbidden to interact with the SCPs in ANY way, remember? But this guy's little girl is allowed in SCP facilities?

SCP-049: Cap of intelligence is cliché and contains a glaring logical flaws: Why did nobody wonder how the homeless guy could wear it without dying?

SCP-054: Another not-so-interestingly-done myth-based SCP. Yawn. Basic idea needs major revamp to be kept.

SCP-058: "hard to kill monster that kills everybody" is a long time favorite meme, but the description for this one, and the talking aspect push it WAY over into creepy territory (+19 rating is nothing to scoff at either). Why is this even on this list??

SCP-060: I'm rather neutral to this one. I have a mild bias against "stuff that comes from the future!!1!1", though.

SCP-068: I mostly like this one, but bits here and there makes no sense whatsoever (i.e. "gamma, beta, and theta waves" have no business in there at all).

SCP-069: the actual concept is hard to read through a poor writeup in a completely wrong tone ("quite a peculiar piece of equipment", holy crap people, that's the basic requirement for every item produced by the foundation!).

SCP-070: This sounds like some obscure X-man, though intriguing. More emphasis and description should be given of the fact and occasions the wings move on their own.

SCP-072: Classical example of unworkable "violates laws of physics" style. Also, way too directly linked to real history.

SCP-077: Dates are too specific for no good reason. Mostly unsalvageable.

SCP-078: Valiant effort, but ultimately does not quite meet the quality threshold anymore.

SCP-080: Makes you kill yourself. BO-RING. Still, image should be preserved for potential reuse.

SCP-084: We have quite a few SCPs that make predictions about the death of the watcher. However, I can't help thinking this one is slightly worthier for originality. I mean, the plot?

SCP-086: Oh, look, it's the umpteenth objects that drives you crazy! Big fat MEH.

SCP-087: I'm not entirely sure what to think of it. It feels sort of like the write up is too elaborate for the actual level of creepiness. It's just a hard-to-kill monster (how original *rolls eyes*). That in itself is NOT creepy.

SCP-094: "People disappear in there" has been done in a variety of much improved ways since.

SCP-095: Just a poorly done parasitic take off on hemorrhagic fever.

SCP-098: VERY creepy carnivorous crabs. Definitely on the upper end of the scale in this batch.

SCP-099: Poor and confusing write up, plus unnecessarily "people want to touch it" effect. plz to be killing it.

SCP-031: I think the Dildo does this better.

SCP-036: I really like this one.

SCP-037: Probably best if we destroyed it.

I suggest also reviewing SCP-027 and SCP-057: 027 is just bleah, while 057 needs to be revised so it doesn't rip off Wikipedia.

020: Seems incomplete. Right now it's just a haunted piano— weird, but not very creepy.

058 and 036 are two of my favorites, and I think 024 is a better read than Cash Or Ash. I'm not too passionately motivated on any of the others either way.

Humm…it looks as if we have votes on the majority of the entries here. In light of the rather rapid response, i think we can wave the chat discussion on this block.

If nobody has a objection, I'll go through and make the changes tomorrow. Also, if anyone on the review team feels there are entries that need to be addressed that i have missed, please speak now!

Also, i'll be running a back-up of the site before any changes are made, just to be safe. I would suggest the rest of the staff do so as well, if possible.

Awwwww, I am still commenting on their discussion pages, but okay. If you delete them I will just make sure to not look at them to spare me the anguish of possibly saving them.

Oh, wow, I just looked at all the responses, and it's mostly negative… I mean, I'm no writer, but some of this stuff is good, just flawed.

Edit: Uh, heehee *is embarrased* So, I guess there are a little more SCPs that suck than I thought, I think I pretty much had given up commenting by around 80. But some stuff like the Bovine heart thing, and the Native American one… I don't want them deleted….
