Welcome to the fifth iteration of the tag request thread. For explanations and information on each tag category, please see the tag list.
When proposing a new tag, make sure to carefully read through the tag categories and their requirements for approval. You may also want to consider skim through the previous tag suggestion threads to see if the tag has been proposed before.
- Top Level, Major Page Tag, Content Markers: No author or article requirement. Decided on case-by-case basis.
- Object Class: 25 articles minimum, no author requirement. (Joke SCPs will receive the tag but are not counted towards the 25.)
- SCP Attributes: 25 articles minimum, no author requirement. (SCP properties and effects)
- Genre tags: 25 articles minimum, no author requirement. (Genre, Theme, Setting and Style)

- Groups: Minimum of 10 articles by 5 authors. (Includes Groups of Interest, Departments, and Mobile Task Forces)
- GoI Formats: Not necessary to request here, will be added to the tag list to match an existing Group tag when applicable to a GoI Format.
- Canons: Minimum of 10 articles by 5 authors.
- Series: Minimum of either 5 articles by 3 authors or 10 articles by 1 author.
- Characters: Minimum of 10 articles by 5 authors.
- Locations: Minimum of 10 articles by 5 authors.

- Events: Not able to be requested in this thread. Contact Community Outreach if you want a tag of this category (includes contests and any other type of event).
- Translation: Not necessary to request here, will be added to the tag list when applicable to a translation from an officially recognised branch.
Although hub pages will receive any relevant Group, Canon or Series tags, they are not counted as articles for the purpose of tag approval. For translated articles, the translator is not counted as an additional author.
While the list in your tag proposal should include as many applicable articles as you can find, due to the large number of articles on the Wiki we do not expect proposals for new SCP Attribute Tags, Genre Tags or Art Tags to be fully comprehensive. However, if a proposed tag is similar to an existing tag, we would expect the proposal to have made use of that existing tag to compile the list of articles the new one will be applied to, as if the overlap is very high we are unlikely to approve the new tag.
When proposing new Object Class tags, keep in mind that while SCPs can have multiple object classes at the same time, for SCP articles with multiple iterations on either the same page or on offsets only the object class or classes on the final version of the article are counted for the purpose of tagging.
For character, group and location tags, we will only count substantial appearances within the article, and will not count mere mentions of the name. However, since these can all be searched for within articles by name, we would expect proposals for these types of tag to be as comprehensive as possible.
Even if it meets the minimum requirements, approval of a new tag will depend on whether or not the Tech Team thinks that the proposed tag is something people will actually be interested in searching for, as well as on how intuitive it is to apply and use.
Please use the following template for tag approvals. Stating what category the tag you are requesting falls under is mandatory. A list of articles the tag will be applied to is also necessary, even for the categories with no minimum. The Tech Team needs a starting point for what will be tagged, and still takes the amount of articles the tag will potentially be applied to into consideration.
Do not use a collapsible in your post. The Tech Team uses which posts have been collapsed and which have not to keep track of what tag suggestions have been reviewed.
If you have multiple tag proposals, create a separate post for each tag.

ADDITIONAL NOTES OR REASONING HERE.
# [[[article]]] by [[*user AUTHOR]] (if author is applicable)
X articles by Y authors.
After you make a post, the Technical Team will review your tag and either approve or reject it. This is generally done for a batch of multiple tags rather than one by one, so it may take a month or more. Review of tags happens in the #tagging room of the Tech Team Discord Server, which is publicly viewable. If your tag is rejected, a member of the Tech Team will reply to your request to explain why the tag was denied. You are allowed to appeal a denial once, if you disagree with the Team's decision.
