Just posting a few ideas I have knocking about, to get general feedback and comments.
- The "Horror Capsule" idea is actually coming along rather well. I'm going to see how people like them as contest "prizes", and maybe flesh them out more.
- In the interests of community harmony and such, I'm looking in to a "play by mail" style of game, somewhat like the stalled "SCP Tycoon" game we had going a while back. There are automated "Host" programs that can handle all the turns and calculations, which would take a ton of pressure off the "DM". The idea would be to have each player represent a faction in the SCP universe (Foundation, Church, GOC…) and try to secure/use the items, and screw over the other teams. Going at a turn or two a day will allow even our more dormant members to get in on a game, and also allow for tons of diplomacy and such. This idea is in it's infancy, but I'd like to know public opinion first…
- I know it's a way off, but I'm getting excited about Pengicon. To that effect, I've started work on a little project: I'm going to do a steampunk mod on a old laptop I've acquired. If it goes well, I'll post some pictures for you…if not, you'll probably never hear of it again…
- I actually have a ton of SCP ideas, for once, but just can't seem to find the time to write them. I think I'm going to start channeling these ideas to other folks, both by direct ideas and bite-sized horror capsules. I've made so many, it almost feels unfair to just keep making more.
- Who here has played Scorched Earth, or Scorched Earth 3D? Foundation Staff game with IRC hookup, anyone?
Sorry for the heavy post, just wanting to bounce some ideas out and let folks know that I'm not dead, despite my dormancy in chat. Hopefully I'll be on more again, when work calms down…
