As a person raised by a father who scared me into not eating beef (at all) and tuna (too fequently) due to chances of mad cow disease and mercury poisoning, respectively, this gave me a nice ol' chuckle over the paranoia of parenting.

Dude. It's a joke not about autists, but rather because of the anti-vaxxers irrationally shitting themselves over a disproven fear of autism being caused by vaccines.
Sorry! For context, my older brother has autism (I know, I know, but if you look up the book "Running with Walker", that's my dad's memoir about raising him. And me)
And as Aiden said, it's meant to be about suburban white parents freaking out over the idea of autism like it's some kind of death plague.

Pretty obviously a parody of morons like anti-vaccers who use autism as an umbrella term for the worst possible thing in the world, which will happen if people don't do as they say.

Necro posting myself here too. Can confirm, I make jokes about me being a [Expletive X-Punged] around my non autist friends and they know that they can join in too. As long as it’s light hearted and okay with them, it should be fine.
Anything at all /can/ be funny depending on how the joke is told. This isn't making fun of people with autism.
I am aware that this isn't making fun of people with autism. I just don't find anything related to autism to be funny, even if it is a parody.
