For me, this is probably the most important thing I've written here.

682, Dead? That’s what surprised me the most. I guess he is terminatable. I actually think the lizard would like it there; considering it hates all life…
I reckon 682 died because there was nothing left to kill. Like Kuruku-sama from Mahou no Shima e, he survived on hatred, and he died when that source was gone.
The slow build is really excellent, and justifies its length. There is some quite clever stuff going on in terms of pacing which is very impressive.
Am I allowed one tiny nitpick? In the second exploration log, I suspect a transcript would write out Indigo's "etc." as "etcetera", rather than abbreviating it, unless they literally said "eeteecee".

But why is this Keter?
You know, I debated this myself.
At the end if the day, I think the foundation would be able to justify the classification based on what they do and don't know about the anomaly.
If there was a "maximum over-euclid" it would probably be that. Hell, it may just be Euclid.
But I think they'd rather not test it.
In terms of the locked box test, this is more Euclid. Unless whatever's in the cave can break down concrete easily, there's no other significant problems and everyone the Foundation sent in there's dead anyway.
But they don't really know, do they? They don't know what happened on the other side of that cave. They don't know if it might happen a second time, and if it might come through. If they knew enough for more extensive procedures, they surely would have them, since this is a phenomenon demonstrably capable of killing all life on Earth.
Agreed. This is Keter. It's Keter because they don't know, and because not knowing could mean the end of all life.
The locked box test isn't appropriate for all situations, but it actually does apply here. They have absolutely no idea if their containment attempt has done anything whatsoever to actually contain the anomaly. They're just guessing.
I mean, concrete? Clearly concrete was meaningless at stopping this anomaly on the other Earth.
No I'd say it's right to be Keter because you cannot contain an entire alternate reality.
For example, the portal allowing access to 2935 should really be classified as 2935-1, which would be Euclid. But 2935 itself is Keter.
Keter as hell. I'll one up you: the "true" SCP isn't even the alternate universe, it's whatever wiped it out. And we have only a couple small clues to that: A) it intentionally let someone live so it could follow them out and do the same to another universe, B) since it killed not just all forms of organic life but also synthetic life forms while still leaving non-sentient or sapient machinery functional means that it's making decisions on what to go after. It's making choices on what it feels life is. This very strong implies that whatever caused the deaths was sapient. So here we have an incredibly powerful, hostile, and intelligent SCP. How many of those aren't keter?
Pretty sure nothing actually followed the dude out. Honestly, I think whoever wrote that thing is the real scp. The question is, why did Keller nuke the place? Answer: he’s the one who recorded the message. He had the only out of place corpse, and had a degraded body. He realized that them coming through caused the deaths, and some sort of time-loop was going on. If he went back through, everyone at home would die.
So he nuked the place to stop the time loop.
My guess was that there are many different dimentions affected by this. The rotten Keller was sent alone through the cave and found a dead world, when he went back he discovered the same thing had happened to his world (the one the logs are set in). Our Keller finds out about this and guesses that if they go back through the cave, the same thing will happen to our world, so he makes sure no one can go back. This could easily be made into a short movie, or even a full length one. Top notch story-telling
Thanks to you, I finally understood the point of it. So the cave is sort of a portal which connects you to a different dimension based on the one you originally came from, and if you try to go back, it will kill every living creature and plant in your original dimension. The question is, does it specifically need a human to wipe a dimension out, or will an animal do the same? Or maybe only an SCP foundation worker can nitiate the process? And even more interesting is why does it do it, and most importantly, who does it? Is it the cave, some entity, or maybe even the alternative reality Keller.
Because if someone leaves the cave, the entire world dies. Including immortal SCPs: like 682 the lizard.
Absolutely delightful to read from the beginning to the end. Two nitpicks though: what the hell is a family doing sitting at a dinner table at 3am? Also, "A smashed wristwatch belonging to Dr. Darius Hemsworth" is located at "Wristwatch no longer operational."?

After a reread, the first now reads like a very neat example of using few details to tell a cute story. A la used baby shoes, etc. I like it :o
Sorry to reply to an old post. The log makes it seem like they were having dinner.
"Kael: Dinner, look. Chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans."
I can get playing cards at 3:13 in the morning (though if it's 2016 that was a Wednesday morning) but not putting dinner away long before 3am seems wrong. If you are playing cards generally you are not eating dinner and it's snack foods. If it is dinner they were having that's very very late.
Everything else was perfect and great but this kind of pulled me out of the immersion and stuck in my craw enough to check the comments for an answer.
Although not explicitly stated, that food isn't on the table. It's over by the sink.
Thanks for the reply and I guess it works but it's still the hardest to believe thing out of the whole story.
I guess they can be slobs but that's no place for left overs. Trash or fridge is what I thought was the common actions. Leaving left overs out promotes bacteria and leaving food that should be trashed out promotes bugs and rodents. It would also be hard to clean up after it gets really dried and stuck on the dishes so normally you scrape the food off into the trash before putting it in the sink.
Besides that the agent makes it sound like the plates are full and they died during dinner despite the time. If you walked in and saw food on plates by a sink you would not say dinner. You would say dinner if it looks like they were sitting around a table eating a meal. While dinner can refer to food it normally refers to the time you eat the meal (after lunch but before bed) as in dinner time. You would not say food time.
Entity displays no signs of life.
Filling the tunnel with concrete sounds like an excellent idea. I am strongly in favor of this plan.
Mine broke from hitting it so damn hard.
ETA: Sheesh! Is this gonna break 100 before the 24hr mark? And does anyone know if that's happened before?
