As a New Yorker, I first off have to say, wonderful. I like that you actually noted that the Foundation tried to keep the acquisition of the building quiet. Given how apartment buildings are actually acquired in New York, the use of Class-A amnesiacs is probably pretty lenient. I do have one nit-pick. How do they keep people from breaking into the apartment? Are the windows bricked up?
They tell everyone it's Moby's apartment. Nobody wants to go in there.
What kinda puts me off about this article is that it sounds too much like a conventional poltergeist. All we need is to find out the apartment's been build on an Indian burial ground and we're set.
icarus, since the building is in the SoHo-Cast Iron Historic District, they couldn't brick up the windows without creating a huge stink. So, plexiglass. Also, the apartment's not on the ground floor, though that wouldn't stop some people.
Spoon, that's a fair comparison, up to the point where the entity turns people into marble. And just that one apartment is haunted, not the whole building. But yeah, I had to keep myself from using the word "poltergeist"….
Good point about the SoHo historic district. Can't even change a window sash and frame, let alone brick up a window, without approval by several agencies. As long as no one runs their tub to overflowing in the apartment above or has a kitchen grease fire in the apartment next door, I don't see any damage occurring to the apartment.
I think the background radiation needs to be higher. The transmutation of living flesh to stone or marble is sure to let off scads of radiation…

Hmm. Some radiation should be detectable outside the apartment, if it's there, so… yeah, they'd at least put some Geiger counters up. I'll just have to figure out what the report would say.
It merits a *mobile* task force? If they were any less mobile they'd put down roots. Designate it a Site, perhaps?
If I remember, when they worked on this alone, they were simply a Task Force. However, they have been upgraded to a Mobile Task Force based on urban environments, and disappearing into crowds.
Yup. Pi-1 can go to any big city in the world, and there are fewer better places to train for that than New York. Containment of 602 itself is part of the Urban Operations curriculum, and if there aren't any trainees, it falls to junior members of the MTF. Foundation residents at Site-28 include members of Pi-1, UrbOps trainees, researchers working on Safe SCPs (also contained by Pi-1 and trainees), and others.
I'm going to add an observation/incident log to flesh 602 out some more. Plus mention the basement and blinds over the windows.
I like the writing, but the vagueness puts me off a bit. As somone else said, a bit of clarification on the background radiation, or anything about the transformation would give it the push it needs to get an upvote.
The new addenda should shed some more light on 602. I'm not satisfied with it, but I'm not sure what else to tweak at the moment, and hopefully I've added in enough line breaks to counteract wall-of-text syndrome. At the very least, if it looks too long, you don't have to read the whole thing to know what's going on (I hope).
Way too much, needs to be trimmed like woah.

All the words are still there, but all the new bits are now more obviously optional. Not the ideal solution, but at this point, I gotta sleep on it.
Ghnn. I've trimmed and reformatted it some, but I'm still not satisfied with it. Leaving the experiments as collapsible blocks feels like a cop-out, but I don't want to leave it looking intimidating, and the experimentation log isn't necessary to read to know what's going on. [sigh] I think I'm just going to leave it like it is for now and revisit it later.
I was quite tempted to ask Quikngruvn if I could write up a story where a rouge group of SCP hunters, known as the ████████████ is being tracked from Site-28, including the hilarious interrogation of one Dr. Venkman.
I won't though, since the story will turn out very badly and I have an allergy to being burned at the stake.
Agent ██████: Among the property found at 14 N. Moore Street were four unlicensed nuclear accelerators. Can you explain the function of these devices?
Dr. Venkman: Back off, man. I'm a scientist.
[End Crazed Natter]
I've devised a method for possibly opening quasi-peaceful relations with the entity. Even if this doesn't work, we gain valuable psychological insight into the entity and its motivations. Plus, my idea is a lot cheaper than robot probes, and probably doesn't get anyone killed (but just in case, let's have a class-D help out).
I spoke to Bright about this on IRC, and he told me that I'll have to ask Quik because Quik is the original writer. So…. hm? May I perform my experiment?
Alright! Teachin time!
Voct, and anyone else new to wikidot, pay attention please. This will come in handy later, and I'm not being sarcastic here.
Find a post by Quikngruvn, and look for the red link that says his name. Click it. A little window should come up with his avatar picture on it and possibly a short description if he's written one. Near the bottom of that window will be a series of links. If you click the one in the middle that says "write private message", you can send Quikngruvn a PM, asking him about his SCP. This is a lot more likely to get an answer in this situation than making a forum post.
(obviously, it works the same way with everyone, not just Quik.)
And lo, it worked!
Voct, I'm intrigued, so go for it. (Just realize that I'm OCD Grammar so expect nitpicky proofreading on anything you add.)
I'm working out the details of what comes after that quasi-peaceful contact - protocols for successful interaction with the entity, where 'successful' is defined as 'it doesn't kill you'.
Always announce yourself at the door.
Do not touch the statues.
Do not say anything negative about the statues. Constructive criticism is okay; however, the entity will modify the statutes in accordance with the constructive criticism, and will become upset if this is not taken into account. When it becomes upset, it kills people.
I assume that the entity itself will never allow itself to be seen, no matter what, nor will it ever directly communicate with anyone except via written notes.
That looks good so far, Voct, except for a couple things. First is 602's reaction to constructive criticism; specifically, it won't automatically change its statues based on feedback, constructive or otherwise. 602 is an artiste, and will listen to or ignore criticism based on its mood. You're right, though, that negative criticism is a Bad Idea inside the apartment. I also don't like that it only communicates through writing, mainly because I dislike absolutes in behaviors. Also, I think its preferred method of communication would be "artistic expression" through its sculptures, at least at first.
Let's see, what else…. 602 will sometimes/often not want visitors, and will keep the apartment door closed from the inside. Best not to force the issue in that case. It's not necessarily a bad thing if it feels cold in the apartment, but very cold is (and may already be too late by then). Absolutely it will stay unseen, though whether it's because 602 stays hidden or because there's nothing to see will likely never be resolved. And, um… I need to stop overthinking it and see where you take it, Voct.
Glad you like it; I had a real bitch of a time properly phrasing the part about the surveillance devices.
You know why it accepts surveillance devices, right? Why it turns them back on when it's done indulging its creative urges?
Because it enjoys having cameras pointed at its art.
