This article features: SCP-2296 (Emperor Penguin Tube Mommas) by Buttfranklin

This article is also a semi-homage to the anime Love Live Sunshine, which will air the next day or so. This article is inspired by an off-hand line in the CD drama (some absurd claim about a penguin hiding in a hotel room), that I thought could be manifested as an SCP (with a lot of add-ons). I will elaborate more on the homage and references thrown into this semi-homage.

SCP-2720	"720" can be read as July 20, which is one of the dates of one of the franchise's song album release.
Site-123	Based on a radio show by the anime's cast, called 1,2, Sunshine. In Japanese, "sunshine" is transliterated as "sanshain" and "san" is a homophone of "3".
Awashima Hotel	One of the settings for Love Live Sunshine.
GoI-3004	"3004" can be read as 30 April, which is the date where Love Live Sunshine was announced.
AquaS	Based on "Aqours" (pronounced "aqua"), the cast of Love Live Sunshine.
7th October 2015	Date which Aqours' first album was released.
Mary O'Hara	An Anglicised version of "Mari Ohara", a character of Love Live Sunshine.
Daiya Kurosawa	Based directly on the kana spelling of Dia Kurosawa, another character of Love Live Sunshine.
"in another world where we are part of a girl's school at Shizuoka Prefecture instead."	A direct reference to Love Live Sunshine itself, which takes place at a girl's school in said prefecture.
"was inaugurated on June 2010."	Beginning of the Love Live franchise
Penguins in the hotel	Based on a CD drama for Love Live Sunshine, where Dia freaked out and suggests that a penguin could be behind a locked hotel room.

The caller(s) is the Conservancy itself. While the so-called affinity is mainly a homage, it can be construed to an implication that components within Awashima Hotel and the building the Conservancy is based at might have been used to build a certain high school in another world.

The Conservancy is currently classified as an GoI, since the Foundation does not know what is its true nature. It's more likely to suspect someone deliberately using a defunct Foundation front than to think that a front is manifested as a sentience.

Um, wow. I'm at a loss of words. At least it explains the Japanese setting.

Edit: The amount of references you made, damn. I fear for when a Kantai Collection-inspired skip is written.

Granted, a significant number of my SCPs are based in Japan somehow. Although I must stress that this article is not in canon with the anime, just inspired from.

I never meant for the skip to take place in the same universe as Love Live, like successful high school idols are an anomaly anyway. Also, I thought your skips were mostly China-based.

Wow. I acknowledge that I once thought of making a Project Crossover Tale on that premise. But I don't know what to do with it.

Also, I thought your skips were mostly China-based.

Do the rookery locations match geographically with the appropriate habitats on our Earth? This should be fairly easy to determine with astronomical and geological observations.

Hm, they would be complete replicas of the appropriate habitats (but catered for penguins to be the apex predator). It's just that the Foundation has no way of telling if each booking brings them back to the same world or a different world that happens to look identical.

Well mainly I was thinking that Japan is in the wrong hemisphere and the latitude of the rookeries should be really easy to determine.

Tentative upvote that will become uproarious if you confirm that the oddness of the dialogue in the interview is due to it actually having been — or meant to simulate — translated from Japanese.

But yeah, this is a neat idea, executed well. I like the idea of a GoI taking the name of a Foundation front company, but why isn't the S for Shizuoka? "AquaS" isn't particularly standard for Foundation naming schemes.

Originally, I went for an orthodox S.C.P. acronym for the front name. Then, I decided that it looks dumb for a front of a secret organisation to have a consistent acronym. No matter how much we can twist the argument, it is not conducive to secrecy.

But I still need something that can prime readers into thinking that it is a Foundation front. Hence the stylisation of a capital S where it typically does not belong. And "AquaS" is part of the homage elements of this article.

Well, you're not wrong about that last part, but I'd argue that a consistent acronym is part of the charm of the Foundation, primarily because it doesn't make sense. :)

I thought the article was pretty amusing in its own way. Whats the point of having access to vast extra dimensional spaces if you aren't going to use them for something as absurd as penguin conservation.

I'll be honest - this pleased me. Penguins being anomalously conserved, an extremely focused GOI, hotel rooms as dimensional portals, a hidden anime subtext and nobody gets murderdeathkilled.

I just don't think it gels. The not-quite-but-still S.C.P.-initialed front org gets rid of the fun sometimes inherent in that trope (e.g., S&C Plastics), but the change isn't enough to help me take it seriously.

The idea of an extradimensional anomalous penguin conservancy is… ok. It being set in a hotel is weird imagery. A former front org taking a different direction could be neat (if my suspension of disbelief was still up, which it isn't), and the idea of an org acting like a person is pretty cool.

The elements just never come together for me. It's got some weird imagery and awkward dialogue meandering around and occasionally dropping story elements rather than integrating or revealing them.

No vote.

I like it. I found it both amusing and oddly creepy at the prank call and using a disbanded Foundation front parts.

The fact it gave me a wide array of emotions makes this a +1 for me.

The interview hurts this one big time, I understand that it's an anime reference, but I don't particularly care about it. A reference is a cool little thing to add just as long as it doesn't cripple your piece, and this interview is like a dagger that's few milimeters away from severing this article's spine, do you catch my drift? Upvoted anyways because the rest of the article is well done.

As a fan of LoveLive series, it surprised me to be told that there was an SCP homaging this franchise. And I think this article has made a good balance between homage and original creation, which really gratifies me who both like the two not usually connected works.

Also, I am quite curious about the CD Drama you mentioned, and wonder: what is its name and/or when and how was it released? I'm editing a entry of this skip for an Chinese ACG Wiki, and I'd like to add some clear references and notes into it; also, I myself want to listen to it. So it'd be an appreciate if the author or anybody could tell me about it, thank you.
