A huge thanks to all of my critters:
GreenWolf for political machination suggestions, which turned this from a "Foundation is overpowered" article into a "Foundation is scary cloak-and-dagger" article.
xexnoncores for getting me to entirely rewrite everything but the containment protocols, which made for a much stronger article in the end.
Kilerpoyo for a lot of things, not the least of which is creating Our Open Veins, which you should absolutely check out. The themes I try to explore in here are much more eloquently done in their work in that canon.
Uncle Nicolini for their feedback on verisimilitude, and on the general concept of the article from the very beginning.
wackdog for SPaG checking, concept feedback, and general encouragement through the editing process.
Anorrack for loads of formatting, grammar, and verisimilitude tweaks.
My first SCP (though far from my first article), heavily inspired by the themes of Our Open Veins. My main focus here was on the C in SCP — Containment. During the Cold War, the US government embarked on a policy by the same name, with the theory being that any one nation falling to communism would potentially spread it to its neighbors, in a domino effect that would result in the fall of Western Democracy (US Global Dominance).
