Elevator Pitch:
SCP-XXXX, the “Lovelorn Incubus,” is a seemingly immortal humanoid male who involuntarily (can voluntarily as well) induces increasing levels of arousal in women the longer it goes without sexual contact. However, the entity itself is emotionally exhausted by centuries of meaningless encounters, craving genuine connection rather than physical intimacy. When a rational and guarded Foundation researcher resists its effects, a rare, (and completely new for the entity) emotional bond forms—triggering new anomalous properties and challenging the Foundation’s containment approach.

Central Narrative:
The story begins after SCP-XXXX is apprehended following a fatal incident at a nightclub. It’s taken into Foundation custody and placed under strict isolation from female personnel due to its anomalous field. Despite its cooperation, the SCP grows emotionally withdrawn as it's forced to “feed” via sexual encounters with D-Class women—something it regards with shame and emptiness.

Dr. Jessica Chase, a logical and emotionally resilient Foundation researcher, initially investigates SCP-XXXX clinically. However, over the course of multiple interviews, a genuine emotional connection develops between the two. The SCP, having never experienced authentic affection, falls in love. In response, Dr. Chase develops anomalous traits— her aging halts, and she begins to sense the SCP’s distress regardless of distance.

The Foundation, uncomfortable with the bond, separates them and attempts to continue forced feedings. The SCP deteriorates both physically and emotionally, eventually attempting suicide during a D-Class encounter. Only after this crisis does the Foundation allow Dr. Chase to resume contact. The SCP stabilizes, becomes cooperative again, and Dr. Chase is promoted to lead researcher, granted scheduled private visits.

Hook/Attention-Grabber:
Rather than focusing on horror or sexual power fantasy, this SCP subverts the incubus myth by presenting a creature desperate for genuine love, not lust. It’s a story about consent, emotional starvation, and what happens when the Foundation’s clinical detachment fails to account for human connection.

Additional Notes:
Looking for feedback on tone—particularly maintaining emotional weight and tastefulness without straying into inappropriate or overly romanticized territory. Also curious how the ethical dilemma plays from a narrative standpoint.

Hello! I'm curious by the idea you post but there's some questions I got from reading your post.

How comes the Dr. isn't effected by the anomaly's field? Would it be explained later or just a mystery for the foundation to keep studying? Also for the aging halt. Does it keep happening to Dr. after Foundation separated them? If so, I think she'd also be considered an instance of the scp, and probably locked in a containment room to study her.

Also, how close they become before Foundation starts concerning for safety?

I can see how you will lead this into ethical dilemma. I like the concept of entities resisting their own fate despite many hardships.

Doctor Chase’s apparent resistance to SCP-XXXX’s anomalous effects is actually a part of the narrative and will be addressed in the story. Without spoiling too much, she may be considered a secondary anomaly at a certain point due to her unique connection with the entity. That classification (and how the Foundation handles it) will be covered in a log. I’m currently reconsidering the aging halt element (as mentioned in other feedback), since it might undercut the emotional weight of their bond. However, I am keeping the anomalous emotional/psychic link between them. That connection persists even after their separation and plays a pivotal role in the story’s escalation, especially after the incident report with the D-class encounter.

The Foundation’s concern starts building once Doctor Chase (who’s known for her emotionally detached, clinical approach) begins showing unexpected concern for SCP-XXXX’s wellbeing. After witnessing its emotional distress from being “fed” D-class personnel, she volunteers to engage with it directly herself, ostensibly for research purposes. Following the request, she’s placed under a 48-hour observation period before reassignment to ensure that SCP-XXXX’s effect isn’t impairing her judgment. The anomalous link between them isn’t discovered until the aforementioned incident report. When Doctor Chase senses something is wrong, she insists on being allowed access to SCP-XXXX. She hasn't been made privy to the incident, or any information regarding the entity, but admits to sensing its deteriorating state.

I see, I see.

I assumed the psych link is unintentional, based on the information here. And I can see Foundation will take the chance to explore more about this new aspect of this SCP. But imo, I don't think Doctor Chase would be promoted if she was considered secondary anomaly related to the incubus. I can see the foundation putting her in the same containment with him to ease his distress, though, but I doubt she'd remain as a researcher and able to roam facility except if she had made a ground breaking discovery or something big.

Also, would there be any negative effect on the doctor too when they were seperated? Or was it one sided? How strong is their psychic link is too, for example, some can only know what the other's feeling and has no effect on their current mood but some can even feel the same pain without even seeing the other.

You're right, the psychic link is entirely unintentional. Neither Doctor Chase nor SCP-XXXX fully understands how or why it formed. It’s a byproduct of their emotional bond rather than something either of them consciously triggered. While it’s investigated, her official classification remains non-anomalous. The connection doesn’t originate from her, poses no active threat, and is treated more as a passive effect of SCP-XXXX’s anomaly.

The bond allows her to sense SCP-XXXX’s emotional and physical state, especially when they’re in close proximity. It doesn’t involve shared pain or overwhelming influence, just a heightened awareness of the entity’s condition. The link is relatively mild, especially when compared to more dangerous anomalies in Foundation canon, and thus isn’t seen as grounds for full containment.

While you're absolutely right that under normal circumstances this kind of connection might raise red flags, the Foundation in this case views it as manageable, especially considering the bond helps stabilize SCP-XXXX’s behavior. It’s not enough to justify removing her from research duty, particularly since similar borderline or low risk anomalies among personnel aren’t unheard of in broader canon.

So, the anomalous effects on her are rather a side effects of their close relationship, in simple terms, yeh? And I assumed based on her, foundation might even "force" the SCP to be friend(at very least) with some D classes to test this anomalous effect, and might be what caused him so much distraught to the point of depression.

While what you said about many researchers in canon having anomalous things, and I partially agree of your point, I think it's either keeping the Dr with him but gives her low security level, due to their relationship risking containment breach, or promoting her but moving her to other SCP or department or sites. Imo, those researchers you referenced have done a really great positive imprint for Foundation to deem them as still useful after they became anomaly. Given her deep connection with the SCP, promoting her, which also grants her higher security clearance, is like Foundation risking for containment breach, imo.

Totally fair concerns, and I think a lot of this will make more sense once it’s all laid out in the article itself.

Doctor Chase is known for being precise, clinical, and emotionally impenetrable. She’s deeply uncomfortable being seen as vulnerable or, more pointedly, as a woman in a position of emotional exposure. The distress of the situation lies not only in her connection to SCP-XXXX, but in how it challenges her entire professional identity. The few people who witness this side of her are either intimidated into silence or persuaded through quieter, more menacing means. She keeps that side of herself tightly under wraps.

As for her continued clearance and role, there’s a reason, though I’m keeping it vague for now since it’s part of the article’s reveal. Let’s just say she has leverage, and some high-ranking Foundation personnel see value in her connection to SCP-XXXX. There’s also a narrative thread suggesting that SCP-XXXX’s experiences might help SCP-166 better control her own anomalous traits. A certain Foundation Doctor finds interest in that possibility as… noteworthy. Officially, of course, it’s all for research.

Ultimately, SCP-XXXX proves its intentions through action. During the containment incident, it refuses to “feed,” even as it deteriorates, choosing death over violating its own principles, and using its abilities to their full extent to violate containment. That becomes a turning point. The Foundation, seeing it as not just stable but self-sacrificing, decides that preserving and studying this rare anomaly (with Dr. Chase acting as an anchor) is more beneficial than watching it die. The relationship becomes a highly controlled exception to typical protocol, born not out of sentiment, but calculated necessity.

Still working on the fine details though, as I haven't written that far ahead yet due to focusing on (hopefully) obtaining greenlights, and using the draft forums as well.

As I've had more time to reflect on the plot, I’ve come to a few clarifications and key points that better communicate what I’m going for.

Think of this as a subverted "Beauty and the Beast" scenario, reversed and layered, leaving the reader to draw their own conclusions. Dr. Jessica Chase, while beautiful, is not the "Beauty" here. She’s a cold, calculating Foundation doctor, and her personality or methodology remains unchanged through her interactions with SCP-XXXX. When questioned, she simply states that she “cares” for it, but that care is subjective. Many researchers within the Foundation might admit to caring for their subjects’ well being. She appears to merely tolerate SCP-XXXX’s affection (something that staff do seem to be perplexed by, because Doctor Chase is not known to tolerate such behavior from anyone), and any private interactions between them (particularly during “feedings”) are left deliberately vague, open to interpretation through subtle context clues in the article. Any witnesses to such activity conveniently have no comments, for one reason or the other.

This ambiguity plays a key role in explaining why her fitness for duty isn’t more heavily scrutinized. She doesn’t advocate for special treatment for SCP-XXXX, nor does she behave unusually in public. Her demeanor toward him is professional and consistent with her conduct toward any other SCP, except for the faintest hints of something deeper, detectable only by close observation. She’s a shrewd woman, and that calculated control over perception is very much in line with who she is as a high level Foundation doctor.

SCP-XXXX, in this framing, is not quite “The Beast,” but he is a literal anomaly (what many would call a monster). And yet, he is a gentle, warm, and genuinely affectionate being, particularly toward Dr. Chase. A crucial point is that he accepts and agrees with his containment. He understands its necessity, and is consistently cooperative, polite, and even friendly with staff. He has no complaints, and states he is content and well cared for, and enjoys engaging with researchers. When asked about his relationship with Dr. Chase, he avoids definitive statements (whether out of personal discretion or her influence is left unclear). What he does express is simple; he cares deeply for her, and believes that without her, he may never feel truly happy again.

Much of their relationship is meant to remain open ended, leaving the audience to decide how genuine, mutual, or complex it really is. The Foundation in this scenario, for its part, seems content to treat the matter as resolved, as long as SCP-XXXX remains stable and contained.

As for his classification, I’m still debating whether to keep him listed as Euclid, or shift it to Safe [Formerly Euclid]. On one hand, he currently poses no threat and complies fully with containment procedures. On the other, his potential to cause disruption (intentional or not) remains. That alone is most probably enough justification for keeping him Euclid, despite his otherwise cooperative and peaceful nature. Either way, I'll likely add that in as part of a discussion during the article.

On another note, I appreciate your opinions about the article! It has helped me to develop a few concepts for the story a bit more carefully.

I must admit, Dr. Chase in my head was a little less clinical than what you intended, haha. But with this characterization and the leverage you mentioned above, I can see she will climb up the ranks. I do feel more sympathy for the Incubus SCP now after knowing his character style more. Poor man can't even have a proper ounce of true affection, yet great that he still remains hopeful.

For the classification, I think sentient SCPs are almost always Euclid at least if they don't pose any threat, because their thoughts still unpredictable in longer, unforeseeable future. Just my suggestion.

I have no more questions about your idea now, and it already seems quite flushed out, in my honest reader opinion. I wish you lucks on getting your greenlights and upvotes. And I'm so glad to hear I was helpful in the process.

SCP-XXXX is not a predator, and it does not coerce or control others. Its effect passively heightens arousal in nearby women, but this is not a form of mind control. The idea is: no matter how aroused someone might be, if there is no genuine attraction, they still wouldn’t initiate anything. The SCP still seeks out willing, consensual interactions and often tries to make them emotionally meaningful, romanticizing these moments out of loneliness and a need for connection. This stands in contrast to how many real life relationships function—often prioritizing physical attraction and sexual gratification over emotional connection, which can lead to a sense of emptiness or disconnect

This desire for something real is what lies at the heart of the story. Despite its allure, SCP-XXXX often finds itself in shallow, one-sided encounters that only deepen its emotional isolation. It's been quite some time, and after contacting just about every reviewer with even the slightest ounce of possible interest in this concept; I sort of ran out of steam. I couldn't as much as get anyone to read the concept, let alone review it. I recently considered revisiting the story, and trying again to seek green lights to move ahead with the project. I just figured I'd give this a single "bump" to see if there's any further interest, and may contact some reviewers again in the near future. I believe I've covered most of the misconceptions, and fleshed out the concept here to a tolerable degree. If anyone is interested in giving this thread a read, I'd greatly appreciate any comments.
