Thanks, Attributions and Other Matters

Firstly, it is thanks delivered to those who reviewed it as a draft. That's to Solo, Steeltitan, DrStranger, salvagebar and GuardGoldman.

Secondly, some attribution notes:

• IJAMEA was from SCP-2937 by Mazyrian
• Holy Emperor's Council on Unearthly Matters is taken from Documeny 2237 Bravo by MacLeod. Bureau of Onmyo is my take on it, since MacLeod's name for the Japanese precursor was tangential at best in my headcanon.
• Sarkicism Hub by Metaphysician

For other things:

In an 1859 court case described by author Shimazaki Toson, a magistrate declared that "An eta is worth 1/7 of an ordinary person."

Therefore, seven eta should be one ordinary person, no?

This is a different take on Sarkicism. We've seen enough of the incoming apocalypse and body horror they will bring to the world, but Ion likely started all this with good intentions (freeing humanity from Daevite rule).

Likewise, the burakumin are the oppressed and for reasons unknown to the SCP Foundation, he gave those butchers and gravediggers a miracle. After all, extremism is often paved with good intentions.

I like the good use of history to support a so-so effect. Would've liked to see more characterization of the entities and maybe more about their plight with their physical condition. The bits included about their culture could be used for that. Sarkicism link seemed a bit contrived. Overall, I liked where it was going but I think you could do more with the material. no-vote.

Put an interview to address their POV. But in summary, they just don't care — Thye just want to be not discriminated and be treated as part of the in-group.

Sarkicism link seemed a bit contrived.

I hope the interview covered that up to some extent.

It might be because I am part Japanese but I do like the concept for this article. However I also agree with Rogert, it feels a little lacking. Maybe an interview log or two to expand on it? Like do they notice their differences from other humans? How are their lives hampered? Did they breed with other humans? A lot of unanswered questions that could lead to some good detail to flesh out their distorted figure.

They kinda do, but they don't care.

It took some time to get adjusted, but they managed to work things out (even fighting in China in WWII).

Nah, they are sterile. That said, I did originally have them breed babies internally, since some instances were made from a mix of men and women.

Some Japanese language trivia: If we transcribe "Wion" into Japanese hiragana, it would be 「ゐおん」(or wi-o-n).

The wi kana (ゐ) is mostly obsolete in modern Japanese, and is usually rendered as い (or i kana).

As such, "Wion" would be an anarchic way of writing "Ion".

An allusion to the anomalous animals that practice Catholicism. I figured they are the best well-known case of SCPs who practice a religion and get to practice it.

That said, I reckon that SCP-1845 was found in the 2000s and this is definitely in the 20th century. But fuck that, if there is SCP-2000, timelines make no difference.
