A continuation of Now, The Serpent. I've previously mentioned that Circe has control over her own emotions and stress response in More Cunning Than Any Beast and Become Like God, so I decided to really lean into it in this tale, because I would have been having a panic attack in her situation rather than cooly assessing my options! I thought this was an interesting way to explore transhumanist superpowers - if you could directly control your emotions, would you?

As Zhang notes, having no fear comes with disadvantages! Hopefully I've conveyed a very dissonant serenity through my writing.
