I've been trying for the past 10 minutes to form a coherent comment explaining why I upvoted, but then I realized it's self-explanatory. This is a good tale, and it highlights the experiences of someone who's not often considered. +1, and it breaks my heart that this is the type of thing someone needs to be anonymous for.

Author, whomever you may be, thank you for writing and posting this. All too often experiences like your own are ignored even in seemingly progressive spaces. You are doing something by posting something. But more than that, you are doing something by just existing and continuing to live your life. I may not be Palestinian but as your Egyptian neighbour this still deeply resonates with me as an Arab and as a Muslim. I cannot fully express my gratitude to you for posting this. Thank you so much.

Powerful and very cleverly presented. This hits hard.
