Eh, I don't know…. This is like the 500th magic mirror I've seen.
This reads like an xkcd strip.
I don't have enough of an opinion on it to vote either way, though. I think it does take too much of a "this is an object where this weird thing happens" tone, though.
I like this thing, because to be that thing in the mirror would be an absolutely frightening experience.
The whole interrogation thing sounds like it'd be an interesting idea. Could we perhaps write a short story on the interview of a subject using SCP-919?
D-class includes violent criminals, hm?
I have this notion of a sadistic thug tormenting 919 by repeatedly killing his own desynchronized reflection.
"…oh god, you again?"
"That's right, mirror-fag! Me again! God dammit, show a little gratitude for me makin' you so fuckin' handsome! No? Fuck you, then."
"NO! NO, COME BACK! COME aaaarghh poof"
"heh heh heh. Still fun. Lemme try that again!"
"… PLEASE SOMEONE STOP HIM! I'LL COOPERATE, I SWEAR!"
"You bein' a snitch, mirror-fag? I don't think I like snitches. Maybe I shouldn't talk to you no more."
"AAAH NO NO COME BApoof"
I like that idea, with the mirror not being a memetic control agent it's quite plausible.
As much as I hate magic mirrors, this article actually made me sad, and I have upvoted accordingly.
Just a thought… I'd love to hear the reflection come out with something to the effect of "You don't understand.. I'm the original! As soon as he leaves, I'll die, and another of them will be out there.. There's almost enough now to.. wait! No! Don't leave! Please! You can't…." [expected result]
True or not, would add a nice additional creepy possibility factor..
Just my 2c.
I love this SCP, so it's great to see it featured on the front page. Btw, a thanks to whomever keeps the front page up-to-date: It's always a pleasure to immediately find an SCP or a Foundation Tale I've never read before on the front page for my enjoyment.
Takes a lot to get me to like a magic mirror. Great job
No experiments involving multiple subjects? If two people are reflected in the mirror, will both of their reflections beg for their lives?
It does say, "Multiple subjects being exposed to SCP-919 behave as expected. Each individual reflection breaks synchronization and disintegrates at the appropriate time." I suppose that doesn't explicitly say that they beg for their life, but I was trying to avoid redundant statements.
