I had the idea ages and ages and ages ago, pre-Containment Breach. I'm happy with how this turned out. It's not what I originally envisioned, but it's FAR more coherent.

Very confusing (in the good way!), and an interesting look at a premise that seems obvious in retrospect, the kind that makes the reader go "why did I not think of this idea earlier". I find that usually those premises are the most satisfying to see finally on paper. Good job.

In hindsight, I think the confusing nature of this does actually work in its favor.

I'm agreeing with the comments so far, the confusing nature of the writing in this piece, combined with the vivid descriptions therein, provides a beautifully chaotic portrayal of how an assault on the Library by the SCP foundation would go down.

I like what this piece does to "colour in" the Wanderer's Library, and I like the touch of benevolence too. The lantern creature, for example, is perfect. Now that I think of it, it's kinda reminiscent of something out of a Hayao Miyazaki movie. My only problem is how quickly the foundation agents seem to just completely break and scatter, regardless of whatever tricks were played on them - they're slightly too much like scared children. No back up plans? No contingencies? What was the point of it, anyway - to just go in and shook the place up? Whatever the objective, it all seems to have been very poorly organised too. All in all, though, it works in the end.

Part of it is that the Foundation doesn't exactly know what went down, why they broke so easily, who was part of it, etc. I used the vagueness of 5-6 years of referencing the Library Attack in irc as a basis for that theme.

Which lantern? The one that wrecked the Agents, or the great writer?

Throughout the Library stood Doors, each unique in itself, and each a literal Door to innumerable Ways. Each Way had its own Knock, and each Knock was unique in itself. Nothing was repeated in the Library, except when it was.
