Fables is now (tentatively) public domain

I'm sort of skeptical. Fairy tales are already in the public domain, and many authors have tried reinterpreting them in contemporary settings. Willingham doesn't have the rights to that core concept; he's relinquishing control of a specific setting with its own internal rules, backstory and baggage. Personally, I don't see much appeal in writing an adaptation or crossover between Fables and the SCP Wiki, compared to developing new iterations on classic literary archetypes.
