I like this. A combination of Djoric's repentant succubus, the teen succubus article he wrote that as a diss to, with some hints from a certain witch's process that we did long time ago…
My only gripe is…. there are male mammals a lot larger than people. A single male donkey or horse would do the job of a man, a bull would probably leave her gorged and… none of them are people. I mean, okay, she picked up buddhist beliefs eventually but… I'm not entirely sure how it didn't occur to her before. Never mind that… it would probably sustain her for longer than rats?
All in all what she does feels a little too self-flagellating to be just about minimizing life lost for her sustenance.
I'll say, to the contrary of the previous poster's mention, I liked the second log. On one side… considering it's IIRC one of those cancers that can change a man's endocrinologic profile etc etc. it does make sense… and furthermore it tells a *lot* about how their platonic relationship evolved, unfortunately. All in all ,very economic storytelling.
I do propose changing it to "late-stage testicular cancer" perhaps , or even end-stage - it's the kind of colloquialism someone like her might actually use, and won't offend our scientists (Which incidentally is why I didn't downvote for the terminology error. I see it just that the character doesn't know and it's kinda plausible)
