down, down, maybe forever down?

This is a collaboration between myself, PeppersGhost, and Tanhony.

This began as an attempt to write the final logs for three famously-unfinished SCPs: 087, 610, and 783.

I would like to thank several folk who helped out big-time in looking this over. Even if just to give their impression:

I love the other two apocalyptic weather articles, but I feel like this one misses the mark a little. While it's clearly a self-parody (using the same set up from When Day Breaks, then the narrative format following the format from After The Storm), I think it becomes very thematically unclear after the first log. I could kind of understand the connection between the main anomaly and 087, but everything after that feels strenuous. I think my main issue here is that the snow anomaly/the weather trilogy doesn't seem to matter in the context of this article, which is a shame, because I think it carries by itself without needing to put meta aspects on it. Unfortunately I don't think I really like this one even though I think I understand the author intention.

Knowing which SCP this was a remix of made me double take and mentally ran through all the details again, which is something no other entries did, so props to that. I really should have realized from the slot number :p

That said, while I’m upvoting this, the total package is only a bit more than the sum of its part, with each part being very individually strong, but only loosely tied together. This is by design, I’m sure, but I almost wished the part blended into each other more cleanly.

Considering how wildly disparate the three articles are, we did the best we could to tie things together. There's definitey through-lines and echoes of certain elements throughout, but broadly speaking the most concrete singular concept tying these together were "unfinished SCPs", which is admittedly primarily applicable in a meta sense.

"Non-Finito" had been a title under consideration.

I'm just going to post what I told Locke when I first read this:

sorry for the tangent, but like… good god this turned genuinely terrifying all of a sudden; i'm feeling… something in my chest right now; something i can't really identify, something so subtle it could just be my imagination… but i'm sure it's there.

i'll be honest i wasn't loving it before (i did still like it a lot tho) and the music i'm listening to with it helped a lot with scarily well-timed mickey-mousing, but now i'm fucking hooked. good fucking job, the three of you, good job.

good god that was a fantastic read. only problems i can think of are that the desc and conpro read like they were written by an alien, and the 783+610 logs didn't terrify me as much as the last part of the 087 log, but it was still really unnerving and well written; especially the crooked formatting in the 783 logs, and the absolute despair and body horror in the 610 log

This dream team certainly did not disappoint, and I'll be genuinely sad if this doesn't at least do well.

I assume that since we go from the “main” skip to the final SCP-087 log, and continue downwards, the reader (both us and the character in the blizzard) become susceptible to 2747.
This article feels like it could fit with 5999, being a “trap” for SWN entities.

Very interesting. I enjoy the reference to 1 a lot. Though I could be wrong but I can't help but feel that the reference is meant to be more than just that, like I said, I could be wrong.

The quality of writing & formatting is perfection and everything I'd hope to see from a powerhouse trio of some of my favorite authors—that and the EXCELLENT -087 log alone (by far its best rendition) are enough for a +1, but I do agree with some comments about the individual parts being stronger than the whole and the lack of clarity in direction. Regardless, the -087 log is especially great. I haven't been that attached to a character's survival in a while.

Good article. Really like the premise of unfinished SCPs being justified by infovores, peak of it is definitely the gripping 087 log. Like other posters though I like it enough to upvote but imo it’s an overall bad SCP buoyed by good overall writing quality and a small number of interesting facets like the 087 piece.

The intro and logs feel disconnected; they don’t illustrate any apparent link between the SCP and themselves. Also feels more like a story than a log. I think I get the premise of the SCP; a predatory, retroactive ‘anafabula‘ working it’s way along chains-of-reference, but then how are the logs referential to the SCP and why don’t they conclude? Bit disorganised.

Feels a bit like I just read an article with a frustrating abundance of [data expunged], yknow?

Could just use a reappraisal of the coherency of the narrative, it clearly has lots of potential!
