Aaaaand here's part 3 of the Notos Blues & Jazz Band Experience's contribution to the MTF Contest! I'm super happy to be getting back into writing the Orthodoxy, though I do wish I could have included more of those lovely, crunchy technical footnotes.

In case you missed it, I'd recommend reading SCP-2474 and the M13 Personnel Memorabilia Log to get the full story, as it now stands.

Massive thanks are due to my teammates Kalinin, minmin and Zyn, of course, and also to EmberTech for indirectly inspiring the name and helping me translate it.

I did enjoy it, especially the tone shift where Spline just gets down to brass tracks.

I'm really, really unclear about Spline's logic and motivation at the end, though, and not in a cryptic or exotic way: in a purely textual way. Primary point:

The point being- remote contact failed. I see no reason why direct contact wouldn't.

… no reason why direct contact wouldn't… fail.

So, double negative, every reason that it would fail. If this is the intended meaning, then I'm missing something.

I've never been a huge fan of CotGB or any of the offshoots there of. However, this tale entertained me once I managed to get a rough idea as to what exactly was going on.

On an unrelated note, if we have the SCPF and the Orthodoxy fighting in space, wouldn't those battles technically be star wars?

It's tough to write biblical-style ecclesiastical verse, but this works really well. I really like the shift in styles when Inventor Spline is writing. I definitely appreciate how this works to shift the Broken God from a theurgical mythical genre into science fiction, where it needs to be to work within the New Shambala storyline.

I really, really like this.

The first half was fascinating - for some reason, despite my near-complete lack of familiarity with the CotBG (I haven't caught up on all the GoIs yet, leave me alone!), I had no trouble understanding the esoteric writing. I thought your descriptions of the planets were especially lovely.

And, as others before me have noted, shifting the focus to Spline in the second half was a really neat idea, one that made me impatient to read the rest of the series.

Easy upvote.
