Whose future? Ours, sure, but the Foundation is fictional. If we see years like 2018 or 2020 or whatever, that just means that (for this document) the Foundationverse is that far into the future.
It's kind of like asking how Star Trek can be set in the 2200's. That's just the premise of the show.

I think you're missing the point. Not everything written here takes place in 2017; some take place in 1917, others in 2117. So if an article says that an object was contained on August 16, 3077, then by definition, the article was "written" in-universe at some point no earlier than August 17, 3077. In reality, the article could've been written yesterday, December 31, 2016. 'Cuz that's when it was written in real life.
If you're still having trouble wrapping your head around that, remember that the SCP Foundation is fictional. None of what is written on the site is real. Hell, it even says so at the very top of the FAQ for the site.
I feel inclined to disagree. A lot of this stuff doesn't have any researchable property. How can you figure out how a rock emits heat without risking destroying the mechanism? Further, lots of objects have had destruction attempts against them at this site, it's just that most are self-repairing. These ones… well, they weren't, and with the only object which seems like it would have had useful potential in researching (the naseua-inducing paperclip), it is explicitly noted that it probably wasn't the best idea to destroy it.
Perhaps, though, some of these should be edited to just be in Storage Facility XX or something? They've done that with a couple of SCP's. Just a thought.
It seems like a shame that most of these items are gone. I always figured the SCP Foundation was run by packrats, myself. It does explain where all the boring stuff goes, which is good.
Hmm. After some thought I find myself agreeing. Secure Contain Protect, not destroy. But, other then that, i like the idea.

Seconded. The impression I always had was that the Foundation only intentionally destroys destroyable things when they're really dangerous and expensive to contain.
I want to make one for a matchbox that if you enter a certain radius, you have an uncontrollable urge to light a match, that is destroyed when Dr. Schubert, a known pyromaniac, lights the matchbox on fire accidentally, but I can't edit the page.
It may have a 15 minute lock on it. It usually means that someone else is working on it. You'll just have to wait until the lock is over.

Hm… the edit with the Metronome kind of missed the point. This isn't just a log of things that have been destroyed, it's a log of really pointless anomalies, many of which happen to have been destroyed.
I see what you're saying, Sophia. Would it help if it were never an SCP (which it never really was), or to just drop the whole "hear it and die" effect? Or maybe we need another list, for objects too dangerous to contain but aren't invulnerable so they can be destroyed…. Either way, change or remove as you see fit.
I think making it never an SCP and taking out the whole die part would fix it.

Sophia, I never could figure out how to fit giant carnivorous ostriches into an SCP, and they're not interesting enough to merit their own article, so I gave them a home here.

That said, I think they would fit better here if they were just a few normal ostriches with teeth that happened to be carnivorous, or even just omnivorous. Making them big and fast makes me think that they would be classified as a new SCP.
If they are just ostriches with teeth, however, that makes them fit onto this log better /and/ is damned terrifying.

It was the former SCP-020, and also included ghostly players. It might make an interesting addition, at least.
I don't remember exactly what it was, so it's your call, but what I should say and feel like I've needed to say for a while is this:
This isn't a place for ideas you like or want to keep around, but you think would get bad ratings as an SCP; this is intended to be a record of harmless, useless shit that just doesn't make sense.
There is some leeway there, though, and if you think the concept of the article fit into this, go ahead. Just keep in mind the purpose of the list.
Erf, the last addition seems too much like it would be considered an SCP… Again, folks, we're looking for weird useless crap… I'd be happier if some editing was done but I'll let this slide for now, just keep this in mind.
