That was an interesting read.
SCP-7206 functions as both a horror skip and a humor skip. The idea of someone turning people with their own hopes, dreams, and consciousness, into a small object like a dollar coin or an ice cream cone honestly spooked me in a way that most horror skips fail to do. It's in these situations that I'm glad that the Foundation has amnestics on hand, especially for that poor bus driver.
There's multiple twists jammed into this article, such as 7206 pretending to give homeless people pizzas and then turning them into more pizza, the teenage boy popping his own dad, and of course the ending. The article doesn't overstay its welcome either, it quickly introduces the anomaly, brings up a lot of situations where 7206 turns people into food that he eats, and then gets to the punchline.
The punchline at the end has a quality to it that I can't really describe, it's just such a comical end to 7206 after they've effectively killed perhaps dozens of people by turning them into pizzas, cash, and candy bars. Still, the twist was executed well, you even had some foreshadowing in the containment procedures that no one reads anymore.
It's a short and simple skip that the wiki really lacks good examples of these days, and it's one that the reader needs to think about a bit before the horror elements become clear. I've read a lot of your work, including SCP-5258 and SCP-6612, and you clearly like to post such short skips. Frankly, I'm glad there's writers out there who can still execute these kind of articles well.
Keep it up. +1
For more information please reread.
The idea of a capricious and dispassionate reality bender is something that I find quite novel, but what is here doesn't really do it as much justice. Ultimately, I would've loved to see a genuine reality where there's just nothing the Foundation can do. The understated horror here is really nice, and I would've liked it if it just kept that energy for longer, rather than ending it in the cheaply comedic way it currently does.
The anomaly tickles the part of my brain that loves endless cruelty, that there are people out there that just has this much control over reality, and are effectively immune to consequence. The idea of an honest-to-god blue and orange morality reality bender is cool, it just needs to keep doing that.
bloop
Interesting, do you think there could be a way to keep the humour and horror around for longer and keep the same ending in a way that works? Is it a matter of completely changing the ending or simply just adding more incident log examples?
Thanks for the feedback!
What's left to say? This article was incredible, the amount of good articles lately fills me with an inmense satisfaction. This one, however, stands out; it doesnt need any complex files, documents or logs, it is enough with the video logs to express your main idea with the anomaly.
I must also say that the ending satisfied me hugely, and I don't think the article needs anything else.
Best congrats,
Dr. Lamas
