Wow, I'd like to thank the practical thousands of people who helped me make this! Big thanks go to JackIke who made the image grey for me, Sibyl who held my hand along the way, Thekillerax for sitting with me for an hour to fix all the mistakes, and really so many other people. Hope y'all like it!

EDIT: There was a lot of stuff going on with the old image which resulted in me taking it down, but the good news is that there's a new one! Huge thanks goes out to VeryLargeArray, also known as Magoo1125 on the wiki, for making this amazing picture!

Researcher is empathetic, but not excessively so; effect is intriguing as to what this sloth wants, but doesn't make it blatantly obvious. Good work!

Idea is fairly plain, but the interviews are pretty good and sell the danger moderately well. Given the premise, it's better than it should be, but there's not enough of a hook in the concept for me to upvote. Neutral vote.

The interviews drag on far too long without enough payoff.

Also,

<rumetzen> little things in scips that bug me: using a technical word, followed by a footnote explaining the meaning of the technical word

If it's a big deal I can get rid of the footnote. It's not supposed to be an insult on the readers intelligence, just something to save them time in case they don't know what it is. I have the damn color blindness and I didn't know what the word meant until a month ago. Guess it depends on the person looking at it, but it's meant to be convenient.

I tend on the side of adding footnotes to explain stuff when necessary. The whole point is to keep the flow of the article going. If the person has to google a term, they've distracted themselves from the immersion of the article.

Besides, this isn't a super scientific document where everyone involved is a scientist who knows what all the terms mean, an SP article is more of a summary of the object that can be given to starting researchers, security guards, etc.

EDIT: Just to be clear, I'm saying I think you should keep the footnote.

1) I find needless exposition significantly more immersion breaking than having to google a word.

2) If it's intended for a layman audience, use layman terms. From an in-character perspective it's completely pointless to have both, since you're just saying the same thing twice, with nothing gained. Going back to the medical note comparison, if I'm writing something to give to a non-medical person (like a soldier's commander), I'll just use the layman term instead of trying to teach a grunt a new SAT word. From an out-of-character perspective it's… equally pointless. The reading experience is not enhanced by having both, or harmed by just having the common term. It's basic prose writing- don't use two words when one will do.

2. Is it intended for a layman audience? I suppose. I don't believe that should restrict people from using terms that aren't common knowledge. After all, why are there footnotes otherwise? What's the point of having the option to use it if it's frowned upon to include? I'll stick to my guns here as well and state that as long as using footnotes is an available tool we can use, that I support the use of them. It gives the writer more freedom to incorporate terms that I believe add just a bit to the article. Once again, I guess that's just an opinion. Just to be clear, I personally like when I see footnotes

My main observation here is that this that the image is pretty central to this article, and I'm not sure how much I'd like it if it wasn't there. There's a few great creepy touches in the interviews- 'I think it wants us to act like it' and 'when I sleep, it makes me keep my eyes open' stood out to me. But I do agree the interviews have too much fluff, go on for too long, and could probably stand to be consolidated into one document, and the decision to cull off the victims at the end is a pretty standard device nowadays. Ultimately, what makes the article linger in my mind is the central image of the sloth photobombing a live video feed, and harassing its victims.
