Should we add the following to the rules on writing

"Articles primarily composed of AI-generated text are not allowed. AI-generated text may be used in a supplementary fashion as long as the majority of the content is written by a human. AI assistance of things like grammar and idea generation are also allowed"

The two current AI written works scp-6973 and scp-botnik-j will be grandfathered in

I'd prefer to see AI-generated text banned entirely. If you go with a simple majority of human-written text, there'll be endless arguments as to whether a given article is 49% or 51% human-written. The amount of low-effort coldposts will increase massively, and whatever means are used to determine the amount of AI-generated content will be gamed. A full ban would be easier to enforce.

I don't mind grandfathering existing works, but I think this should be disallowed going forward.

(I wouldn't include something like grammar checking in this ban. I'd consider that to be analogous to Photoshop's AI select tool: very limited use of AI in furtherance of human-driven creation of a work.)

I mean, to ban it entirely disallows a number of creative methods for a storyline. I think the point that should be noted here is that a rule saying "the majority" is rarely going to be treated simply through wordcount. At the end of the day what is considered "the majority" of a piece is going to be up to staff purview, and as such allows for decent wiggle room I would argue. It would be a real shame to entirely get rid of something so novel as a supporting tool simply because some people will try to rules-lawyer the specifics of it.

Though I can definitely understand how someone could see it the other way around, knowing how tedious these kinds of disputes can become if it becomes community-wide.

supporting on principle, though i'm not convinced that making this a rule is necessary given how gimmicky ai writing is to begin with.

Full support, and agreeing on grandfathering both articles in, although as others have pointed out in these discussions, Botnik-J was trained entirely on SCP data, isn't fully an AI but rather a human/AI synthesis technology, and generally subverts the ethical concerns about AI text generation. I feel like we shouldn't see more like it because it wouldn't be original/novel and would downvote on those grounds, but I feel like we shouldn't ban/should differentiate the use of Botnik or similar cases where the AI is trained entirely on SCP data.

So long as AI writing can be used as a tool for making interesting plots, such as having the fact an AI is being used tie into the overall story of a piece, I don't see any issue getting rid of it for regular articles. Supporting!

Edit: To clarify I do not like any generated text whether it is from an AI or botnik (or what that was called) the comment on pages 2 says this better than I do. Also not for the grandfathering tbh

Supporting this rule. I do support the usage of AI when it comes to pitching ideas and stories, but I do not support AI-written articles as a whole. I'm also gonna be echoing Fortanono's comment. They said it pretty well.
