The writing for this piece is superb. The article as a whole gives me Outer Worlds vibes, which is a tiny game I really enjoyed that deals with paradoxes in outer space. Anyhow, the point is, this article constructs a world unlike ours really well: I've always thought 'common thing seen from an alien perspective' to be an overused theme that rarely works well, and so I was wondering how things would go right from the start. Can say I was really surprised when the paradox is introduced. It's such an odd thing, but then you think about how you'd resolve a paradox in this case, and what it means for this article to be a paradox.
I really liked the most philosophical approach to this theme; it really differentiates the piece from others tha explore similar themes, and helps ground the concept much better, because even after 97,000 years, we ask similar questions, and we behave similarly. Quite charming, when you think that way.
Anyhow, enough talk. I loved the piece, so +1~
