This was my 2022 AE gift for Prime Girl! It is also my first Department of Unreality and my first Department of Other piece, and I'm very happy with how it came out. This is my first year participating in Art Exchange, and I was fortunate enough to get a very fun and interesting prompt, not to mention one for someone on the wiki I'd consider a friend! Fun time all around! I hope you, too, loved the piece, Cass, and Merry Christmas :)

I did quite enjoy this. Before knowing who the author was I was convinced it was written by someone already versed in writing Unreality because of how well Trintavon nailed the tone.

It's funny, there are a fair few Unreality articles coming out about how there are multiple Thorleys. There's the Xmas special, this, syuzhet's gift from Ironshears, and I myself have a draft about the same thing! Funny to think how that happened, and more or less all at once.

My request for a Dept of Other article set in a canon was in part to introduce the concept to more people and to tie it into pre-existing settings or stories where it might later be picked up, because I love Dept of Other a lot. This did that very well. It's not difficult to understand the concept, you threw in some -Js that's pretty self-explanatory, and one of them is part of the Deptcon series, threw in a character, Researcher James, who was part of that, and the shtick is memorable even ignoring what Other is.

Technically this also establishes an Alex as a member of the Department!

My only question is did SCP-447-J ever actually exist at one point? Or is that supposed to lean into the unreality/other departments' lore? Because if so I think it might be deleted or linked to incorrectly.

My guess is that Trintavon made a typo, and actually meant to include SCP-477-J, which is an actually existing article.

Articles like "Alex Thorley kills a dude" strike a really good balance between funny shenanigans and genuine moments of surrealness. Not really feeling it with this one though, feels like it's trying way too hard to be funny. This concept is perfect for a DoU article but I don't think this really delivers on it.

I love the huge surge of "multiple Thorleys" articles we've been getting. I know Unreality "lore" isn't really supposed to be a thing, but this is an arc I'd like to see to completion. I wish I knew this existed while I was working on my Unreality Christmas tale, I'd be referencing it so much, hahaha

There is always an infinite possible supply of thorleys because you divide an empty space's volume by the volume of alex thorley the result is infinite alex thorleys per space, right? Same with mass, same with energy. There has to be, to reconcile the field equations surrounding Thorley and whatever space they occupy at any given moment. This is the Infinite Thorley Hypothesis.

The way I see it, Thorley's surrounded. What's under the Thorley? That's right, more Thorley.
