During a cleanup of accounts which have moderator and administrator privileges on the mainsite and O5, it came to the attention of staff that there are users with O5 membership that are not current members of staff. Some of these are/were INT staff members, but many that retain membership are simply retired members of staff.
There was some discussion on Discord about whether all non-current staff should be removed or whether there should be exceptions made for certain users. I have provided what I understand to be the two sides of the discussion below.
- Those for removing all non-staff members argued that the rules should be enforced consistently and that any non-staff members with access to O5 pose a potential security risk.
- Those for keeping some staff members argued that some retired staff could be vouched for and should be allowed to remain on O5 so that they feel welcome to return.
This thread is to serve as a jumping off point to defend either side with the hope that a consensus can be reached. If a consensus can not be reached this will move to a vote after this discussion has closed.
This discussion will be open for one week. O5 mirror.
