Printer from Hell

I hate printers. So does everyone else in IT. This is a printer so horrible that just using it will make you want to violently destroy it (okay, that's probably every printer, but this one's an SCP.)

I should note that this is my first SCP so if it's shit please tell me why and I'll work on it.

I also have some interesting plans for experiment logs with it, and hope to tell some cool stories (spoiler alert, it eventually prints out SCP-571 to fuck with researchers.)

By the way, the SCP number is exactly the model number of the printer in the picture (which is actually my home printer - picture was taken by me and is licensed CC-BY-SA 3.0.)

Hatred of printers is not anomalous, it's as natural as breathing.

+1 for revealing the printers evil agenda to the world.

this is neat! i personally feel like the best direction to go with it would be to cast some plausible doubt on the idea that it's anything other than a normal printer, for example by presenting some of the researchers working on it as a bit dubious and maybe a note that the description is pending further review?

its up to you of course, i just think that could be a more interesting/unique narrative than going further in the evil printer direction

That’s actually a cool idea, maybe it’s worth adding a researcher who’s convinced it’s an -EX.

Also, my current working concept for how the printer was created is that some very petty technician hated his job so much that he decided to make a pact with some demonic entity (probably, actually, the “IT Department” entities). aaaaand the goal was to curse the printer to make others suffer the way he did. Some kind of demonic influence actually makes it fit the “printer from hell” name even better.

Decided to add an AIC to the chaos - I’m a bit unsure if it fits the AIAD guidelines, but it does fit the story I think? Would appreciate any input!

Adding the AIC bit was a fantastic choice. It really ties everything up nicely in my opinion. I have to admit, I was a bit concerned this would be too similar to SCP-920-EX when I clicked it, but you've done a good job of taking it in a different enough direction.

Oh, huh. I wasn’t even aware that SCP-920-EX existed when I wrote this. It’s a really interesting article nonetheless (and I’m glad that 7720 ended up being quite different!)

This SCP article was great! A theme of the seemingly unanimous hatred of printers, along with a lot of small pieces of humor in it. Big +1

I think what nailed this for me was the manual full of error codes like BLD RITL RQD. At least that one is in relatively plain English and tells me what the problem is, unlike ERROR 571 or ERROR 666. … okay, that last one is pretty obviously Not Good, but it still doesn't provide useful information towards resolution. Very -very- lifelike, that bit. 😁
