There's a bit of a tale behind this article. AnActualCrow began the draft in August 2020, but ended up submitting it to the SCPD Draft Swap in Jan 2021. I was enamoured by the draft the first time I read it…but didn't end up having it assigned to me. Fast forward to September 2021 and the draft was still on my mind and hadn't been posted, so I asked the person who received it if I could adopt it (shoutout JackalRelated). Fast forward again to September 2022…and the draft is finally in a position I'm happy to post it!

Thanks to my critters on this: Meserach, Limeyy, LORDXVNV, Pedagon, J Dune, Snapdragon133 and Captain Kirby (please let me know if I've forgotten anyone!).

Wow. This was a long time coming, with more rewrites than I can remember. I guess it's fitting that this article took so long to get right.

The work that Dysadron put into this is really remarkable. I hope you all enjoyed reading it!

i enjoyed this, though it could have done without the first addendum since it doesn't really add much. good and fun article.

Thanks for the read, Nico, glad you enjoyed it. The first addendum was meant to show how peeved off the O5 are at Harrison, and how they're absolutely set on keeping him contained no matter what (even the end of the Foundation) as punishment. Will have a think on if there's a better way to convey that…

Man, there is quite a bit of fridge horror in this concept.

I can see how Addendum 1 is meant to show that the O5 are pissed, but… none of that stuff is wrong, is it? Like, if the description of Harrison’s immortality is to be taken as true, none of that is an exaggeration or a cover story. When the walls of the cell crumble, and the oceans boil away, he will be there. When the Sun consumes the Earth, he will still be there. Always. The Foundation cannot guarantee that it will last forever. He can.

I think the Overseers aren’t just mad because Harrison won’t tell them how to live forever. They’re afraid, and they have every right to be. A truly immortal enemy is the worst enemy imaginable — because if he wants to defeat you, all he has to do is wait.

The Gorilla is the cover story, Addendum 1 is very much not. You've got exactly what we were aiming for.

Well uh, I'd like one that''s about why the Gorrila is even doing this in the first and how Agatha fits in all of this — I really like their brief characterization and I wanna read more about them

I am horrible at reading subtext and I still cannot infer why Harrison doesn't wanna tell the Foundation how he became immortal

As for Agatha, she's in Internal Affairs so she's like, yea this sorta counts as her job; what I meant was why she's interested in dping this and what drives to imprisson someone she used to consider a friend

well, we can see from his dialogue with agatha that harrison is pretty antagonistic towards the foundation, and it's heavily implied that the purpose of his department was giving the o5s immortality, so spite is a pretty major possible motivator here. it's also possible that harrison concluded that the o5s shouldn't have the secret because of what they could use it for, and the spiteful stuff developed after they threw him in a cell and presumably tried doing a lot of fucked up things to get him to talk.

This is really good. You did a great job at throwing me off and making me think that it was just a gorilla that could shapeshift, but reading into it more I think I’ve gotten what the real story is.
