Two days ago I was musing out loud "hm, I wonder if you could convey a narrative through only descriptions of tattoos someone has?" and whether I should try doing that. Everyone in the chat said yeah, so here we are. This is a bit of an experiment in characterization for me, and I don't expect it to work for everyone, but I hope you enjoyed it. It was nice to expand on some of Site-7's less-acknowledged characters!

Thank you to Trint, Nico, Ralliston, Fabled, Harry, Dodo, Pr0m, and LizardWizard for proofreading — and Greebo, who also came up with the title!

The article didn't work for me, while the story itself is emotional its format made the article unable to properly deliver those emotions to me and as such I didn't feel anything while reading the article. Novote.

I was on board since you mentioned that you were toying with the idea of using tattoos to present a narrative, and I'm so happy you decided to go through with writing it. You explored this space impressively well, and got a nice, emotional story out of limiting constraints. Gives the basic character beats while also incorporating more impactful lines through less conventional tattoos, such as the cross or the conclusion. Awesome piece.

I'lll always adore articles that can convey a wealth and depth of information in so little words, and that is done perfectly here. I'd just like to lay out everything I caught onto because it's just so impressive:

Everything we learn.

- Pierre is an extremely loyal soldier, both in respects to those he serves and his combatants. This is seen in the sacrifice metals he wins, alongside grief counseling which is (likely) undertaken due to the loss of friends within the military.
- Pierre left his faith (seen in the removal of a cross tattoo), likely because he felt it treated him as inhuman, though it could have been for any reason.
- Pierre is FTM and also survived through (or is working through) depression.

Anyways, this is to say I thoroughly enjoyed the document. A ton of depth and a strong connection to a character we don't even see speak once. I like it a lot. Good work.

A very interesting way to tell a character’s life-story with very effective results at storytelling. Each log does its part and I got the gist of what happened even with all the carefully written subtlety. Great work! +1
