I'll start with some (personal) criteria for the Reviewers' Spotlight/Flight Choice:
- Hard Limit: +150. Like Westrin mentioned, there are plenty of articles above +100 that are definitely underrated. However, I personally think +200 is a bit too high, and will settle in the middle with +150.
- A stronger preference for lesser known/new authors.
- Relatively new articles are strongly encouraged as well
- Avoid picking from the Top 50 upvoted authors. Not necessarily implemented as a hard rule, just a strong suggestion.
In response to those who suggested banning self-features for the Spotlight picks, I disagree to an extent. I feel critters who are chosen for the Spotlight should be able to pick their own article, but only if said article is within some of the criteria listed above (such as within the Hard Upvote Limit, being relatively recent, etc).
I do agree with what Sage mentioned though, in that there should be some kind of "Reviewer's Recommendation/Critter's Consensus". However, instead of being limited to just articles the critters have critiqued (which could consist of the Butterflies, Crit Staff, Spotlight recipients, and Flight teams), it can include any under-performing they feel should be voted for. The feature itself can function similar to the Reviewers' Spotlight, with the article changing weekly based on the top 4 voted by said critters
