THIS is the kind of thing I expect from a shadowy para-government organization!
From chat about SCP-627:
<ClockworkMage>: …Right. Google the trinity site.
<ClockworkMage>: There are pics.
<ClockworkMage>: Of EXACTLY how it turned out.
<ClockworkMage>: Let me explain. Nukes work on normal science, it's true. Problem was, building them is HARD, and we needed something to make our initial tests work.
<ClockworkMage>: The official story is that the first test nuke was a triumph of last-minute science go-get-'em attitude.
<ClockworkMage>: What if it was something more… well, different.
<ClockworkMage>: The other two worked as publicized, yes.
<ClockworkMage>: But that first one? The dawn of the reign of terror that is the nuclear weapon?
<ClockworkMage>: It was SCP-627 that gave it birth.
<ClockworkMage>: And think about THIS… Compared to the other shit we have? We think it's "safe".
<ClockworkMage>: It fits in beautifully with my views of the Foundation, hands everywhere, toying with all sorts of things, trying to keep the world from realizing that the laws of nature they know are just pretty wallpaper hastily applied over a chaotic and ruinous nightmare of reality.
I thought it was generally frowned upon to tie SCPs in too heavily with real-world history?
Ah. I heard it somewhere, though I might have misinterpreted comments on having an overarching storyline.
Never mind, I bow to your superior knowledge. I still don't like 'real' SCPs much, but that's just me.
Several of them tie in. Well written ones live. Others perish.
As a note it was Commander Robert Lewis(dropped the bomb on Hiroshima) who said 'My God, what have we done?' not J Robert Oppenheimer. Doesn't really matter for the SCP though.
I don't see that anywhere in this file.

Then obviously, you've been misinformed.

so, this started out very simple. What we would consider an anomalous object these days, 'cause I thought it would be interesting to have something that wasn't scary, but that we just couldn't explain.
Then i thought better of it, and decided to tie it in to the real world somehow, and thought 'What if the nuclear bomb was the cover up?" or maybe ' What if somethingthe Foundation did was what led to us gaining nuclear power?'

The duties of the D-class personnel assigned to the object are not made clear. It's implicit that the assigned D-class is responsible for the maintenance, lubrication, etc., but there's no good reason not to just say so.
Good, but the logs seem just a touch…overdramatic, maybe. Still, a neat entry.
…Gears, it took you this long to read it? This was posted back in 09.

Rather disappointing but still a good article.
