The SCP wiki's Ambassadors have discussed with the Spanish Language Branch of the SCP wiki (ES) the issue of the pride flags being removed from translated articles, an issue that authors on the English language site have requested us to resolve on multiple occasions. After a long conversation with many different attempts at reconciliation and compromise, ES have said they'll keep the rule as is. They've stated they'll rewrite the rule to clarify that various symbols are disallowed, and not specifically just pride flags.
From http://lafundacionscp.wikidot.com/guia-de-traducciones :
También, todos los logos que no tengan relación directa con la trama del artículo, ya sean de religión, nacionalidad, sexualidad, etc, están prohibidos en traducciones y deben ser quitados. Si se trata de un logo especial diferente al estándar de La Fundación, debe ser colocado una versión blanca o negra del logo en su lugar. Si no posees conocimientos de edición de imágenes, puedes solicitar ayuda a otros miembros.
Which roughly translates to:
As well, all logos that do not have direct relation with the article's themes, be they of religion, nationality, sexuality, etc, are not allowed in translations and should be removed. If it is a special logo other than the standard Foundation logo, a black or white version of the logo must be placed instead. If you don't have image editing skills, you can ask other members for help.
We made an additional request that an exception be made for the logo of Site-43 from the "On Guard 43" canon, as the in-universe version is in the colors of the pride flag. This request was denied, except for articles within the OG-43 canon that have LGBTQ+ themes as a big factor in the narrative. EDIT: See below for an update.
We'd like to state, preemptively, that we won't be tolerating people going to other branches to be annoying or harass them, as it is a violation of rule 1 (don't be a dick). INT branches cannot dictate what they each do, and so the decision as to our next steps will need to be discussed here on the English language wiki. Staff will be leading an open Discussion to consider proposals for the appropriate response.
