A soft, nasty little twist of a thing about all the stuff we put inside ourselves to make us better.
Quite liked this. The thought of regurgitating seven pounds of diatomaceous earth evoked a gut response.
Aw, I'm so glad! The two reactions I'm looking for are "enjoyment" and "momentary nausea".
How dare you make me cry!
TBH very few pieces of media make me cry, and for me that's telling that it's really good. The last time I cried from media was 'Interstellar'. Kudos!!
It might not be a 7000 winning contest, but this is still a very nice entry on the list. It managed to tug on my pathos in spite of most of the Logs beginning with someone throwing up, which is an achievement. +1
Love the flip from nauseating to hilarious to heartwarming (and what I assume must be a reference to Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret); I also really didn't expect the reveal in the final log, so that was a huge gut-punch. +1 all the way.
Full disclosure: I didn't realize the reference I was making during the planning process. I only recognized my own Judy Blume homage halfway through writing that log.
<searches the word “hamsa” on>, so that’s what those things are called. Honestly though, as someone who has a weak stomach and GI issues, this is gonna be a no-vote for me. Nothing really wrong with it, the squick just kind of gets to me.
Totally fair! There's a billion and one valid reasons to vote any which way, and "this squicked me out" is one that I'm always happy to hear.
This is a really really well done article. As in, screw the 7k contest, this is just a great article in and of itself. I'm really glad this exists as part of our world now.
Also God abandoning power of judgment is a cool angle to take. My ordained self is gonna go off and chew on that for a while.
I'm glad you liked it! That particular bit is based on my experiences during Yom Kippur, a time of atonement in the Jewish faith. I was brought up being told that God can forgive all sorts of sins against the Divine, but any wrongful acts between human beings require person-to-person repentance.
Oh wow - when you describe it that way, it's a perfect analogue to the idea of atonement before Eucharist in the Christian faith, that it's less about sin and more about not coming to the table when you're still not right with someone else.
Pleasant, but a bit too sappy and quirky for my tastes. Never been a fan of "deity gets screwed over because human is smart" stories. Idk, didn't hit the right notes for me to enjoy. That said, well written, and didn't overstay its welcome, which I can appreciate.
Cute and short entry you knew what you wanted to do and executed it very well.
The audio logs were very fun to read and very heartwarming. I especially liked the ones where the 2 demons summoned at the same time, the one where it was reformatted into Bible verses and the last one got me very sad, well done.
+1 made me feel emotions
