The fact that I didn't have to make up the Pepsi Naval Fleet is kinda messed up

Question for someone very new to the wiki: What happened to the last 570, and what even was it? Was it downvoted or removed by the creator or what? Feel free to, like, not give me any answers if it was a dramatic happening though

Current Noospheric models infer that SCP-570 has coalesced in such a way that total extrication of the anomaly from the Noosphere would result in the conceptual annihilation of the concept of soft drinks; due to both companies' status as members of the Global Occult Coalition's Council of 108, this course of action has been deemed unfavorable.

Okay, upvoted already. Gonna keep reading, but I love noospheric stuff and the companies being a part of the GOC is both fantastic and, unfortunately, surprisingly realistic.

EDIT: The sheer escalation is absolutely wonderful. The above is how we start. We end with the Scarlet King being tied to Coca-Cola, and, I might be wrong about this, did the Foundation release the Devourer in order to appease two megacorporations? It's… a lot of fun lol.

A creator doesn't want their work on the site anymore. This is one of many articles that we have to replace because the person has demanded it all be replaced. This is a mandatory process and it has to be done.

Are you sure? SCP-570 was a rewrite of a Kondraki article, and according to the post on harmony's authorpage:

In addition, I would like the author attribution which I have on all collaborations to be extinguished, and authorship rights to my rewrites restored to their original authors or assigned as Modern_Erasmus sees fit.

So it could have been credited back to him, unless there's something I'm not aware of.

Kondraki is banned, I thought? Regardless, new blood in Series I is pretty much always a good thing, since unfortunately it's what everyone reads first.

Kondraki is banned, but this is just about whether or not the article can stay on the wiki; crediting Kondraki to an existing article wouldn't be breaking the "no contributions from banned members" policy
Edit: Also, I couldn't even find the rewrite request for SCP-570 on the rewrites request thread, even discounting the fact that this isn't even actually a rewrite, it's a completely new article taking over the old slot

An unforgivable sin if it wasn't for the fact that the entire concept and writing of this is one of the best things I've read on this site. I don't even know much about Thaumaturolowhatever, but Coke and Pepsi throwing magic shit at eachother until the literal concept of cola breaks is an instant +1. The writing being good, as per usual with you, also helps.

I vacillated between a novote and a +1 for a bit - the final log isn't really to my tastes in terms of dialogue and interactions (though I will say the ending grew on me, and the scene is conceptually strong), but in the end the outlandish descriptions of the PepsiCo/Coca-Cola beef (especially the smaller details) were enough to sway me. I was surprised at the lack of cocaine and death squads, though.

The SCP banks its comedy onto the soda rivalry which would be the punchline anywhere else; by the time we get to the logs, it's already played out the absurdity of soda companies fielding magic armies, and I'm left with something that feels like it goes on for way too long. It doesn't help that the joke probably wouldn't have been funny to me even if it were "better-paced".

I've said before that I prefer SCPs where the anomalies are central to the narrative, which obviously isn't the case here since I'm not even sure what this thaumaturgical residue is, what it does, or even how it's contained… but plus one nonetheless. I liked how casually the document mentions Pepsi's and Coke's paranormal operations, and Pepsi's navy is a good reference to the (possibly apocryphal) time they traded their product for 20 Soviet Warships.

I really enjoyed this, but the last section with dialogue doesn't really work for me. It felt sort of unnatural and slapstick-y (so maybe that's personal preference), and overall kind of pointless.

On the other hand, I really enjoyed the buildup of the two companies tossing whatever batshit crazy concoctions they could make at each other. And the crosslinks too are quite cool.

I might reread and upvote, but for now it's a novote.
