Sort of Narmed by the fact that the doctor has the same name as the doctor in SCP-5555.
Unless I'm mistaken, "narm" is when something is meant to be taken seriously, but for some reason comes across as funny instead.
In this case, it's because the doctor in this relatively serious test has the same name as the one from one of the silliest test logs. Easy enough to change though.
On the subject of the SCP itself, I like the idea, the test log is perhaps a little more graphic than is necessary. I would consider a bit of [DATA EXPUNGED] in order here.
Each SCP is supposed to be taken on its own merit. I use Dr. L as my generic fuck up researcher, cause it works for me.
What would you consider expunging?

No problems with Dr. L's name—after all, there's a 1/26 chance of randomly choosing that letter, so an initial doesn't make a big enough connection that these are the same guys.
I do agree that the overtness of the description in the test log made it cross from "creepy" to "gross and upsetting" in my mind. I'm not sure about expunging, but maybe rewriting the same information in a different tone would help? Instead of "Strange, I never noticed how nice they look in their clothing. Such smooth legs, such soft hair. I… Hmm." it'd be more "Subjects show an unexpected increase in general levels of physical attractiveness. Tomorrow, I will begin a more thorough examination of muscle tone and skin elasticity to determine if these effects are cumulative and/or physical, or if the children are being affected psychologically by the artifact." You know, keep the writing scientific and detached while implying Dr. L's mental dive.
I agree, the name's not that big a deal.
With the expunging, what I was thinking of was something along the lines of 231, (Procedure 110-Montauk…) where enough is left unexpunged to hint at what's happening, while leaving the actual specifics up to the imagination. Having it written out matter-of-factly kind of feels like it's trying a little too hard to shock you. If part of it is in your mind, you get that moment where it clicks and you go, "wait, that almost sounds like… oh God, that's what he's doing" instead of "so it's making him jack off? Ew."
See, i think expunging this would take away from the creepy factor. I may tighten the language a bit, but this is the good Doctors diary, not his actual test log.

I just realized how much creepier this one is when you realize that the crazy researcher was female (I think Julia's a female name). It implies more strongly that the SCP is the craziness's root. I mean, I could easily imagine a male going crazy when he realizes that he basically has infinite power over a bunch of children. But females don't go crazy over sex obsession so easily.
Oh.
Well, it would be creepier if it were a female because I could easily imagine a man sudenly going insane when he realizes he has infinite control over children.
That's pretty damned sexist there.

and pessimistic. Just because you have a large amount of control over a child, doesn't mean your molestation meter automatically gains a couple notches until you go insane and start raping people. It's something innate within- I'm guessing Laugher was always a creep, right (which reminds me, never piss off Bright too badly, or he'll name a pedophile after me, or something equally bad- "Doctor N███: I love killing kittens. I never realized it before, until i got this kitten murder flute")
I think this is fine. There's a kind of oh shit moment- most of the tales of the pied piper end with the children never seen again, but presumably safe, but this kinda makes it like, "crap, so that's what ended up happening to them"
I always thought the stories ended with the children drowning, or starving in a cave.
Well no wonder you're so pessimistic :) got all the sad depressing versions- the story I heard had them lured into a cave, which was hinted to be kind of like never never land.
ir's sounding to me like you have some issues you should be discussing with a professional.
Hah, I had a really long and well written post about how much of a douche you were for saying Bright had issues, then I realised who you were actually talking to and felt a bit silly.
… Really, thats all you get from this?

Hmm… kitten murder flute… no, not a flute… a trombone… ooh, I hear a -J!

Doesn't look like Euclid to me, telling the truth: locking it up unattended *would* work as containment, and its negative effects are strictly limited to the object being actively used. I am pretty sure we have got more dangerous objects in custody that are ranked safe.
On a different note, I have chuckled at the somewhat (probably unintentionally) amusing fact guards are to kill anyone leaving the containment room but no restrictions appear to have been placed on entering it.
Were you intending to comment on 571?
Also, this SCP is pretty great. Upvoted.
It seems your comment was for a different SCP, but I agree that I don't think the classification for 573 should be "Euclid."
With the current procedures, shouldn't it be "Safe," because it and its effects are entirely and effectively contained?
I personally consider this SCP to be my creepiest. This is also the first one where I really TRIED to get that creepy aspect down.

I've always thought this was one of the creepiest on the site, myself

This. I'm surprised it's not higher rated.
It's because it's not "oh god this could be right behind me" creepy, it's "this makes me so uncomfortable but not really scared" creepy.
I like it though, a little variety in the flavors of creepiness.
I explained my main line of thinking on the Log page, but my idea still stands that the object shouldn't cause the user to go crazy, but the power trip of having complete control of suggestion over other living beings should.
Can't wait to get my hands on this so I can film The Jungle Book: [EXPUNGED] Edition.
Was I reading the same thing everyone else was…?
All aspects of the pied piper stories rolled into one artifact, in SCP form.
Boring, down voted.
Edit: Just realized the stories name IS "The Pied Piper", even harder down vote if possible.
What Pied Piper stories were you reading that had it do this?
if your reading this your gay
This is a really excellent way to buildup to that log, which really sells the article. Standalone, I would be kinda meh on this, but the exploration of the effect found in the log is excellent and makes me appreciate what's here that much more.
Whether you like it or not, history is on our side. We will bury you!
I haven't read the log yet (I found that surfing the recent posts forum), but this article seems flawed; what makes it Euclid, other than it was used by a researcher who kept it in his desk? And how was that allowed?
Delightfully creepy and squicky. Upvoted.
One minor quibble from the test log:
SCP-573Re is a flute, capable of lulling and entrancing animals and children.
Is the 'Re' a typo, or does it have some purpose I'm just not aware of?
