This SCP is many things… my conception of a half-ghost SCP which turned out like this. The real anomalies are the jade suit and it tying the hun (ethereal soul) to the body. Ergo, the jade suit worked too well.
About the "into himself" aspect, I won't take it at face value. 2372-A is likely to be asserting himself all the way to get his goal (get out of the body he's stuck in).

Well, I based it from the Chinese (re: Taoist) concept of the soul – the hun that goes to Heaven/Hell (SCP-2372-A) and the po that remains in the body and decays into the earth (SCP-2372).
I'm glad that I have achieved what I intended to.
I don't see why you need to specifically mention that a corpse is undergoing rigor mortis. That's like mentioning that a humanoid living scip breaths.
Besides that, the concept doesn't really hook me and the interview is way too conveniently expository for my taste.

[Didn't I read a tumblr post like this?]) is more annoying than amusing or interesting, and while the concept of the body and spirit separating in such a way is interesting, it isn't elaborated or told in the right way to make me care.

A reference to the jiangshi. I would have done it with a picture, but I'm not in favour of finding the corpse of a real person. Therefore, put it down to the writing.
Besides, corpses don't have a uniform look to them.
Every corpse goes through rigor mortis barring extremely weird circumstances. So yes, in this case, corpses do have "a uniform look". Again, that's like saying that a person breathing is referencing a wind spirit of something. If you want to reference something, you need to make it something that's actually unique to that thing. From the wikipedia article, outstretched, locked arms and being discovered in a cave could both work.

On that note, my personal peeve about the jiangshi is how could the arms stretch out if the body is supposed to be stiff.
But, there's this from Wikipedia:
"A person's hun is good but his po is evil, his hun is intelligent but his po is foolish". The hun leaves his body after death but his po remains and takes control of the body, so the dead person becomes a jiangshi.
Perhaps the dullness of their interaction is attributed to the body's comments reduced to groaning sounds, turning a back-and-forth argument to a one-sided banter.

IIRC, the original tumblr (or wherever) post was about what would happen if someone's ghost haunted their own zombified corpse. So yeah, this is kinda a version of that. But I think it's sufficiently fleshed out, so to speak, that I don't mind that it's based on (or at least highly reminiscent of) that.
However, the whole "dude was really into himself" thing, to the point that his remains precum when interacting with its other half, just leaves me cold. No vote.

Funny, since the "into himself" thing is just 2372-A's assertion. We don't really see what 2372 is really saying… Okay, there's the pre-cum that happens when they interact, but is it really the case?
EDIT: This gave me some inspiration there… the pre-cum has to come from somewhere… (pardon the pun).

An eternal (?) argument between dead body and lingering soul is a good idea, but I don't understand the masturbation aspect. Was Chen in love with himself (or body in love with soul???)? Or just a sensual man who needed to feel pleasure constantly? Who asked for the jade suit: the pò or the hún? Or were they in agreement about it (why, if the main goal of the hún is to leave for heaven/hell?), but as you say, the jade suit worked too well? Not clear, I think.

Actually, isn't it just ONE sound? When I read the part about -A also being able to speak, I imagined a conversation between the two, or three-way interviews with Foundation people… which is not possible, as stated and shown later. Wouldn't it be better to write: SCP-2372 can produce a groan-like sound from its mouth?

In my most original draft, Chen was supposedly into himself (narcissist) and have the suit made to preserve himself .
But I have since changed that to him being a guy who dreads the idea of his body rotting away (you know, like Gilgamesh). The hun and po may be parts of Chen, but they do not really represent Chen. At this point, they are effectively two separate things and don't really know Chen as well as they believe.

Me actually. The legend usually don't have the hun and po interacting. Think of hun as the ghosts we may see hovering about and the po usually don't appear (they stay in the body).
Come to think of it, SCP-2718 does quite an interpretation of the po soul since the soul remained in the body and rotted with the body.
My interpretation was that it's kind of like the "Kirk split into good-and-evil halves" from ST:TOS. That is, when the two parts of the soul were still merged (while the person was still alive) it viewed masturbation normally, but when it split into two their view of masturbation became distorted, with the body-soul viewing it as self-attraction and the ethereal-soul going into denial.

Isn't this a bit redundant? I mean, it's not like we see corpses of living people often.
If you are referring to 'preserved' as redundant, normal corpses tend to decompose.
If you are referring to 'late' as redundant, I suppose that the statement is doubling down on his dead-ness. Okay, 'corpse' alone would do the job.
I'm not so sure. This is the Foundation we're talking about: They see both living corpses and and corpses of people who are still alive on a fairly regular basis.

By this logic, there are a thing as alive corpses, and dead corpses. Lord have mercy if a dead corpse ever touches SCP-447.
