Hello, everyone. Welcome to 0983, a spiritual rewrite of the birthday monkey in the form of a poem, and in the vein of The Trashfire's 0166. This is my most open and honest work, and one of my favorite poems I've done for the site so far.

I'd like to thank the two people who looked at this before I posted:

I'd also like to thank NekoChris, the author of 983, for stoking my existential fears about time and death. Cheers!

For a bit I thought this was about Kiran Bachnan, but that's on me for not reading Unreality Dept. Well, this hits close to home; insanely close to home, so the punch is pretty hard. There's no way I'm remembering this, so forgive me if I say it in advance… happy birthday, Floor.

Now that you mention it, you'd be forgiven for thinking this was about Bachnan, haha. I didn't realize how much I drew my imagery from 6337's second picture. Syuzhet is definitely one of my favorite authors, and I owe a lot of my inspiration to them.

Ok, so this is great, except for the part where I have no idea how it relates to the Unreality Department, or the site in general, for that matter. Can someone help?

The scenes are fragments, disconnected events, in the "life" of an unreal person. Whether these events actually occurred or if they’ve been influenced by 0983 (whose nature is left ambiguous too) is up to interpretation.
