So I’ve been thinking a lot of the moderation stuff of the wiki, and I’ve just been wondering: how come the rating stuff deletion has been never lowered? I mean it wouldn’t be a little bit bad if some moderate stuff got in.

Not like anyone is gonna die or anything. Also how come we never got croutons as karma/guru, rating system symbols, etc?

The wiki is better if all is crouton

I assume you are asking why the deletion range isn't above -10. While I'm unsure why it's specifically that, I'd imagine that an article in the double-digit negative range has little chance of climbing above 0 again.

Karma does not do anything functionally. Also, what do you mean by croutons? Educate me. I assume you don't mean the garnish bread.

No what i'm saying is, why can't you guys let in some somewhat good quality posts that take weeks to make and put on the wiki?

Also i do mean the garnish bread/salad bread stuff. Crouton karma is good, and basically a crouton themed BHL is very great also.

Because it's the people who decide whether they like it or not, and staff doesn't get to decide what stays on site. Staff's task is to regulate, so they cannot do something just because they want to do it, no. There's a set of rules, and they have to follow it.

Also, what do you mean with the whole "crouton" stuff?

That is up to you! If you like an article, don't hesitate to upvote! However, we do have some standards for quality, and if an article is clearly low effort, it will likely not survive.

Also i do mean the garnish bread/salad bread stuff. Crouton karma is good, and basically a crouton themed BHL is very great also.

Karma is a feature of Wikidot, the platform hosting the SCP wiki (as I'm sure you know), so it is outside of our control. However, what do salad croutons have to do with anything?

While I'm certain there's at least one or two exceptions, more often than not once an article has fallen below -10 it isn't going to recover. This site has a pretty high standard of quality, and imo there's no reason to hang on to articles in the negatives for any length of time since it's clear that the community isn't interested in them staying around. It does actually hurt something to keep these articles around- it hurts the site's quality standards.

I know it's frustrating to have an article fail after you've put a lot of work into it, but that's the nature of the beast.

I would not really agree with that. Although I would agree that poor rated articles hurt the wiki.

I must say fabled, the standard view on this wiki is a bit troubling tbf. I think there could be change?

I believe there is a need of differentiating, a change of act and views.

People look out for enjoyable content. The majority of the on-site userbase is comprised by +20-year old adults who most likely may want to see a coherent and enjoyable story with no SPaG issues.

If the deletion threshold was lowered to 20 downvotes, the large majority would still downvote it until the article reaches 20 downvotes because it is downvoted for a reason.
