Fun facts:
Initially, this was gonna be a lot more violent than it currently is. Like, Quentin Tarantino decided to remake 120 Days of Sodom, now with chainsaws. But then my team said "yo, wtf" and I toned it way down.
So the idea originally came to me because I was reading the wikipedia article for mnemonics and found out about the Knuckle Months. And then I combined that with my somewhat rational fear/fascination of pliers, and here we are. Also fun fact, I had a stray thought where I had really chapped skin on my lips, and peeling it eventually peeled my whole body away. I tried to pair that nightmare with the pliers, did not go as well as I had hoped.
This was also supposed to be way more encompassing, but then I decided to tone it down and focus on two people in an interrogation room. Like, I would've gone through several D-class to make a superpowered humanoid, but like, is that really interesting? Probably! But alas.
As for how the anomaly actually works, I intentionally made it inconsistent, as a parallel to how the researcher feels about his situation. Think of it as hard magic systems except for when it wasn't, and you've got a pretty accurate image of my writing process. The explanations offered are not 100% accurate, cause there was never a plan to begin with. :p
For the plot:
So basically, D-2002 gets Stockholm Syndrome, and Dr. Filia sees this happen in real time, and doesn't want any of it, so he cures this via exchanging some of his memories of freedom with D-2002's memories of torture, but Dhalia.aic doesn't want this to happen. This is what the second to last interview is about, how a lot of details about D-2002's life is fundamentally altered.
